 (3)  S 864-012Supply cool air to the IRU's (AMM 21-58-00/501).
 (4)  S 864-013Set the COMPASS transfer switch on the P5 panel to the NORMAL position.

 CAUTION:_______SOME SWITCHES MUST BE PULLED AND THEN TURNED. IF YOU TRY TO TURN THESE SWITCHES BEFORE YOU PULL THEM, YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM.
 (5)  Set the switches on the mode select unit (MSU) to the ALIGN or NAV position.
 NOTE: You can find the MSU on the P5 panel.

 (6)  Do these steps to do a test of the compass transfer relay:
 NOTE: Do not start the test less than 20 seconds after you set the
____ MSU switches.
 (a)  
Set the COMPASS switch on the P5 panel to the NORMAL position.

 (b)  
Set the SYS DSPL switch on the inertial system display unit (ISDU) to the L position.

 (c)  
Set and hold the DSPL SEL switch on the ISDU in the TEST position.

 (d)  
After 10 seconds, make sure that these occur: 1) The captain's HSI heading reads 15 degrees. 2) The first officer's HSI does not show this value.

 (e)  
Set the COMPASS switch to the BOTH ON LEFT position.

 (f)  
Make sure that this occurs:

 1)  The captain's and the first officer's HSI heading reads 15 degrees.

 (g)  
Set the SYS DSPL switch on the ISDU to the R position.

 (h)  
Make sure that this occurs: 1) The HSIs do not read a heading of 15 degrees.

 (i)  
Set the COMPASS switch to the NORMAL position.

 (j)  
Make sure that these occur: 1) The first officer's HSI heading reads 15 degrees. 2) The captain's HSI does not show this value.

 (k)  
Set the COMPASS switch to the BOTH ON RIGHT position.

 (l)  
Make sure that this occurs:

 1)  The captain's and the first officer's HSI heading read 15 degrees.

 (m)  
Release the DSPL SEL switch on the ISDU.


 E.  Restore Airplane to Normal
 S 864-016
 CAUTION:_______SOME SWITCHES MUST BE PULLED AND THEN TURNED. IF YOU TRY TO TURN THESE SWITCHES BEFORE YOU PULL THEM, YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM.
 CAUTION:_______TURN THE TWO SWITCHES ON THE MSU TO THE OFF POSITION. FAILURE TO TURN THE SWITCHES OFF CAUSES A HORN IN THE NOSE WHEEL WELL TO START.
 (1)  
Turn the two switches on the MSU to the OFF position.

 (2)  
Set the COMPASS switch to the NORMAL position.

 (3)
Remove the IRU cooling if it is not necessary (AMM 21-58-00/501).

 S 864-019

 (4)  
Remove the electrical power if it is not necessary
 (AMM 24-22-00/201).
