(5) Do these steps to align the IRS from the ISDU.
CAUTION:_______SOME SWITCHES MUST BE PULLED AND THEN TURNED. IF YOU TRY TO TURN THESE SWITCHES BEFORE YOU PULL THEM, YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM.
(a) To do a high latitude alignment, set the switches on the IRS mode select unit (MSU) to the ALIGN position from the OFF position.
NOTE: You can find the MSU on the P5 overhead panel.
____ A high latitude alignment takes 17 minutes. Note the present time for later use in this procedure.
1) Make sure that the ON DC lights on the MSU come on for a short time. 2) Make sure that the ALIGN lights on the MSU come on.
(b) To do a regular alignment, set the switches on the IRS mode select unit (MSU) to the NAV position from the OFF position.
NOTE: You can find the MSU on the P5 overhead panel.
____ A regular alignment takes 10 minutes.
1) Make sure that the ON DC lights on the MSU come on for a short time. 2) Make sure that the ALIGN lights on the MSU come on.
(c) Set the DSPL SEL switch on the ISDU to the PPOS position.
NOTE: You can find the ISDU on the P5 overhead panel.

(d)
Push the N or S key on the ISDU.
(e)
Put in the degrees and minutes of the local latitude on the ISDU. 1) Make sure that the local latitude shows on the left side of
the ISDU. 2) Make sure that the ENT key on the ISDU turns on.
(f)
Push the ENT key to transmit the local latitude to the IRUs.
(g)
Push W or E on the ISDU.

Put in the degrees and minutes of the local longitude on the ISDU. 1) Make sure that the local longitude shows on the right side
of the ISDU. 2) Make sure that the ENT key turns on.
(i)
Push the ENT key to transmit the local longitude to the IRUs.
(j)
If you did a regular alignment, make sure that the ALIGN lights on the MSU turn off.
NOTE: The IRS is now aligned and in the navigation mode.

D. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

CAUTION:_______SOME SWITCHES MUST BE PULLED AND THEN TURNED. IF YOU TRY TO TURN THESE SWITCHES BEFORE YOU PULL THEM, YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM.
CAUTION:_______TURN THE SWITCHES ON THE MSU TO THE OFF POSITION. FAILURE TO TURN THE SWITCHES TO THE OFF POSITION CAUSES A HORN IN THE NOSE WHEEL WELL TO START.
(1)
Turn the switches on the MSU to the OFF position.
(2)
Turn off the IRU cooling if it is not necessary (AMM 21-58-00/501).
