(13) VOR Self-Test Pictorial (Fig. 16)
(a) Figure 16 is a pictorial presentation for system No. 1 showing control settings for VOR self-test preparation and the flight instrument displays for the VOR self-test. 1) The VOR test preparation and procedure described here is
for VOR/ILS navigation system No. 1. The test of system No. 2 is performed in the same way, using the controls and indicators for system No. 2.
2) Test Preparation a) Prior to testing system No. 1, the following switches and controls must be in the position indicated:
-VHF NAV Transfer Switch . . . . . . . . NORMAL
-IRS Transfer Switch . . . . . . . . . . NORMAL
-DFCS MSP: Course Selector No.1 . . . . 000
-RDDMI: VOR/ADF Switches . . . . . . . .VOR
-
IRS MSU: L and R Mode Selectors . . . .ATT
-
IRS ISDU: Press H and enter heading of 000
-Left and Right EFIS Control Panels: HSI Mode Selectors . . . . . . . . FULL VOR/ILS
-VHF NAV Control Panels: AUTO/MANUAL Switch/Indicator . . . . . .MANUAL
b) Next, select a VOR frequency of 108.00 MHz on the VHF NAV control panel. Observe the VHF NAV status on the sensor status display on the flight management computer control display unit (FMC CDU). Check that VOR 1 and
108.00 are annunciated and that course deviation scale is displayed in the captain's EHSI. 3) Test Procedure
a) To initiate a VOR self-test, press and hold the TEST switch in the VOR position, and observe the following displays:

*[1] Course deviation bar disappears for approximately 3 seconds, reappears centered for 23 |5 seconds after initiating test, and then disappears again for as long as VOR self-test is actuated.
*[2] Warning flags remain in view for 3 |1 seconds, disappear, and 20 |5 seconds after initiating test, reappear and remain in view for as long as self-test is actuated.
b) Release the TEST switch and verify all VOR indications return to normal.
