An AND circuit requires all inputs of a logic circuit to be 1 to obtain a 1 output. A ì symbol is used to designate an AND function; a


symbol designates an AND gate.

An OR circuit requires any one input of a logic circuit to be 1 to obtain a 1 output. A + symbol is used to designate an OR function; a

symbol designates an OR gate.

A bar over a function designates a logic inversion (NOT function), e.g., PITCH ENGAGE = 0 if pitch is engaged.


B.  To aid discussion of auto flight systems, reference numbers are assigned to summing points and solid-state switches shown on schematics. Solid-state switches are represented by conventional switch symbols. The logic function opposite each switch indicates the condition(s) necessary to actuate the switch. The digital computer circuitry is replaced by simplified analog circuitry to help system understanding.

 CAUTION: DO NOT MIX THE BMS 3-11 HYDRAULIC FLUID WITH THE MIL-H-5605
_______ HYDRAULIC FLUID. THE MIXTURE OF THESE TWO HYDRAULIC FLUIDS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
The BMS 3-11 hydraulic fluid is the approved hydraulic fluid used in all of the hydraulically operated systems. The BMS 3-11 hydraulic fluid is a fire-resistant base fluid. You can mix two hydraulic fluids which have the same specification as the BMS 3-11. There are labels to identify the airplane equipment that uses the BMS 3-11 hydraulic fluid.

The BMS 3-11 hydraulic fluid can cause corrosion to some materials. Use special paint to prevent corrosion in areas of hydraulic leaks (Ref 51-21-00/701).

 WARNING: DO NOT BREATHE THE POISONOUS FUMES AND GASSES FROM BMS 3-11
_______ HYDRAULIC FLUID THAT BECOMES TOO HOT. MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE RESPIRATORY AND EYE PROTECTIONS. THE BMS 3-11 HYDRAULIC FLUID GIVES OFF POISONOUS FUMES AND GASSES IF IT IS HOTTER THAN 450° F. THESE FUMES AND GASSES ARE DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH.
 (3)  The BMS 3-11 hydraulic fluid can cause skin irritation in the form of dry and cracked skin. It can cause painful and temporary irritation to the eyes. It can also give a burning sensation to other sensitive parts of the body. If you breathe the BMS 3-11 hydraulic fluid spray, it can cause irritation. Put on rubber gloves, goggles, face shields or other safety glasses. If the BMS 3-11 hydraulic fluid gets into your eyes, flush them with water and get medical aid immediately.
