(6)
The A/T provides an input of altitude bias for use in the altitude hold mode to reduce A/T hunting. The discretes input provides status input to the FCC.
(7)
The flight control computers exchange cross channel data for use prior to a change in command or prior to dual operation.
(8)
The FCC provides the data which will be displayed in the various MCP LCD display windows as a result of parameter changes. The discrete outputs from the FCC to the MCP provide control logic for the operation of the pushbuttons (illuminated or not illuminated).
R. Pitch Channel Operation

S. BITE operation
(1) See AMM 22-03-00 and AMM 22-03-01 for complete details of the DFCS BITE operation.

DIGITAL FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING
________________________________________________
1. General_______
A. The FMS Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) procedures in Chapter 22 are used to identify malfunctions or failures of the DFCS system. The FMS BITE includes procedures for the FMCS, DFCS, A/T, and IRS.
B. The FMCS Control Display Unit (CDU) is used to do the FMS BITE. The CDU display shows all the instructions for trouble shooting the FMCS, DFCS, A/T, and IRS BITE (Ref 22-01-00, FMS BITE - D&O).
C. Once you make the selection of the FMS system, that system gives the necessary data and instructions to do the tests on the CDU. If no failure occurs during the tests, the CDU display will show "TEST PASSED". If a failure occurs during the tests, the CDU display will show "TEST FAILED" and the LRU failures.
2. DFCS BITE Trouble-Shooting__________________________
A. You can find the procedure for the DFCS BITE trouble-shooting in Section 22-03-00.
NOTE: Trouble shooting procedures for the FMCS, A/T, and IRS are in
____
these sections:
FMCS BITE - T/S, 22-02-00
A/T BITE - T/S, 22-04-00
IRS BITE - T/S, 22-05-00
B. To get out the BITE tests, you can push the line select key (LSK) adjacent to EXIT or INDEX shown on the CDU. You can also push the INIT REF key to get out the BITE tests immediately.
