Flight Management Computer (FMC) Inputs

 (a)  The FMC provides the horizontal command signal used during the L NAV mode.

 (6)  
Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) Inputs

 (a)  The DME distance is used as a comparison to actual altitude in the VOR mode to determine the OSS condition.

 (7)  
Flight Control Computer (FCC) Inputs

 (a)  The cross channel data transfer allows one FCC which has been operating to transfer data to the other when it is powered up. This does not apply for independant F/D operation.

 (8)  
Outputs to EFIS Symbol Generators

 (a)  FCC A provides both a pitch and roll digital data word for F/D commands to the L-EFIS symbol generator. A discrete digital word is also used to provide the signal for the active roll mode. R-EFIS symbol generator will receive the same information, but has a program pin which selects it to only use the data from the B FCC.

 (9)  
Outputs to MCP

 (a)  The FCC provides digital discretes to the MCP to turn on or off the various pushbutton lights.

 (a)  The cross channel data bus provides transfer of information between the flight control computers.
 N. Roll Control Operation
 (1)  Mode Control Panel Logic (Fig. 29)
 (a)  
The MCP provides for mode selection and parameter selection and display. It utilizes both analog and digital means for signal interface.

 (b)  
The MCP uses two central processing units for its prime signal handling. The digital input and output data is received by ARINC 429 receivers and transmitted by ARINC 429 transmitters. The A/P engage switch, F/D switches and A/T arm switch are standard switches providing voltage or ground outputs when engaged. Listed data words with associated labels provide the digital data control.

 (c)  
The mode select pushbuttons, bank angle limits, change over switch, and F/D ON (gnd) inputs are all contained in MCP discrete word 271. The display change word informs the FCC's of any changes made to the IAS/MACH, vertical speed, or altitude selections. Shaft encoders are used to generate the digital output representing selected heading and course. The IAS/MACH, vertical speed, and altitude displays are controlled by inputs from the master FCC. The discrete word input to the MCP from the FCC's control the illumination of the pushbuttons, self test request, and IAS/MACH indicator mode letter input.

 (d)  
The analog inputs and outputs are associated with engage solenoids and engage switch positions. The MCP also provides the disengage warning outputs to the FMA and warning horn. The aileron and elevator actuator engage commands come from the CWS or CMD positions of the A or B A/P engage switch. The course resolver interface with the VHF NAV units is for calculation of the VOR beam deviation.
