 AILERON FORCE LIMITER - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1.  General

 A.  This test makes sure that the aileron force limiter (AFL) and autopilot system operate correctly.

 C.  Prepare to test the aileron force limiter:
 S 865-001
 (1)  Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).
 S 865-003
 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDER, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  
Supply hydraulic power (Ref 29-15-00/201).

Make sure that the hydraulic system A and B switches on the P5 panel are in the ON position.

 (4)  
Make sure that these circuit breakers are closed:

 NOTE: Make sure that you close the AFCS A FCC DC and AFCS B FCC DC

 (5)  Make sure that the flaps are up.
 D. Aileron Force Limiter Test

 (1)  
Do the Aileron Rigging Test (tests 52.16 thru 52.20) in this task: "Rigging Test" to make sure the aileron force limiters are correctly rigged (22-11-01/501 or 22-11-00/501).

 (2)  
Do the aileron force limiter test:

 (a)  
Align the IRS in the NAV mode.

 (b)  
Engage the autopilot channel A to the CMD mode.

 (c)  
Set the Bank Limit Switch on the MCP to 30 degrees.

 (d)  
Adjust the MCP HDG control to align HDG bug under the cursor on the EHSI.

 (e)  
Push the HDG SEL button.

 (f)  
Turn the HDG SEL control on the MCP to increase the heading display by 45 degrees.

 (g)  
Make sure that the control wheel turns clockwise and stops between 15 and 19 degrees (2.8 to 3.2 units on the control wheel scale).

 (h)  
Lower the flaps to 10 units.

 (i)  
Make sure that the control wheel turns clockwise and stops between 23 and 27 degrees (3.8 to 4.5 units on the control wheel scale).

 (j)  
Turn the HDG SEL control on the MCP to align the HDG BUG under the cursor on the EHSI.

 (k)  
Disengage the autopilot.

 (l)  
Do the steps (a) through (i) again for the counterclockwise direction.

 (m)  
Make sure that the difference between the two control wheel values is not more than 4 degrees.

 (n)  
Do the steps (a) through (k) again for the autopilot channel B.

 

 (3)
Remove hydraulic power if it is not necessary (Ref 29-15-00/201).
