WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL
_______ CONTROL SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDER, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) Supply hydraulic power (Ref 29-15-00/201).
NOTE: The power control units must be serviceable for the force
____ transducer cables to align correctly with the force transducer.

(4) Attach the DO-NOT-OPERATE tags to the control columns.
E. Roll Force Transducer Installation
S 494-010
(1) Put the shims between the shaft and the drum. The clearance must be
0.021 +0.003/-0.0 inch.

Hold the force transducer in the position and install the mounting bolt, washer and nut at the end with no adjustable fitting.

Adjust the force transducer (AMM 22-11-11/501).

(4)
Install the lockwire through the locknuts, the fine adjustment nut, and the washer tab on the end with the adjustable fitting.

(5)
Hold the force transducer in the position and install the mounting bolt, the washer and the nut at the end with the adjustable fitting.
(6)
Remove the shims.
(7)
Make sure that the clearance dimensions are 0.021 +0.003/-0.0 inch.

Install the lower transducer cable in the top spool:

(a) Attach the lower transducer cable with the cable clamp below the transducer. Do not pull the transducer cable tightly.

(b)
Wind the transducer cable around the top spool, approximately seven turns, in the CCW direction (as seen from the bottom) from the top to the bottom of the spool.
(c)
Turn the control wheel (to the limit) in the direction to tighten the transducer cable around the spool.
(d)
Attach the transducer cable with the cable clamp on the bracket.
(e)
Turn the control wheel clockwise and then countercloclwise (to the limit) for two or three times. Make sure that the transducer cable does not prevent the movement.
(f)
Adjust the transducer cable in the bracket if it is necessary.

(9) Install the top transducer cable in the lower spool:
(a)
Attach the top transducer cable with the cable clamp on the spool bracket on the lower flange. Do not pull the transducer cable tightly.
(b)
Wind the transducer cable around the lower spool, approximately seven turns, in the CW direction (as seen from the bottom) from the top to the bottom of the spool.
(c)
Turn the control wheel (to the limit) in the direction to tighten the transducer cable around the spool.
(d)
Attach the transducer cable with the cable clamp on the bracket.
(e)
Turn the control wheel clockwise and then counterclockwise (to the limit) for two or three times. Make sure that the transducer cable does not prevent the movement.
(f)
Adjust the transducer cable in the bracket if it is necessary.

Connect the force transducer connectors.

(11)
Close the 1103 forward access door at the lower nose (Ref 12-31-11/201).
(12)
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tags from the control columns.
