A. Safety Precautions
(1)
On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2)
Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3)
On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC. Subtask 54-51-00-010-054
B. Get Access
(1) Put an access platform in position:
(a)
At zone 470 for the left pylon.
(b)
At zone 480 for the right pylon.
R (2) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. TASK 54-51-21-000-001):
(a)
For the left pylon: 415AL, 415AR, 415BL, 415BR.
(b)
For the right pylon: 425AL, 425AR, 425BL, 425BR.

Clean the inspection area with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) and MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), if necessary.

Make sure that the surface of the inspection area is clean and smooth.
(3)
Do a visual check of the inspection area for damage or
discontinuities.
(4)
Make sure that there is no:
(a) Corrosion damage:
-If you find corrosion damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual (Ref. SRM 512200,P.Block 001) for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.

(b) Other damage (cracks, scratches, stress, marks, dents, bumps...):

Do a special detailed inspection of the upper surface of the pylon lower spar between RIB1 and RIB2, RIB3 and RIB4, and RIB8 and RIB10. Refer to the Non-destructive Testing Manual (Ref. NTM 545104,P.Block-901).
