LOWER FAIRING - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. Description___________ (Ref. Fig. 001) The lower fairing is composed of :
-Two access panels made of stainless steel connected by means of one pin on center part and bolted on the transition fairing and on the rear radial firewall.
-The forward part of the lower fairing is connected to the center part by two pins and bolted onto RIB10. It is made of stainless steel sheet except for the bottom removable sole which is inconel 625.
-Monel rivets are used for attachment.

A. Safety Precautions
(1)
On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2)
Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3)
On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a)
Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b)
Put a warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. TASK 78-30-00-481-041). Subtask 54-56-00-010-050
C. Get Access
(1)
Put the access platform in position :
(a)
at zone 470 for the left pylon
(b)
at zone 480 for the right pylon.
(2)
Remove the panels :
(a)
For the left pylon : 475AL, 476AR
(b)
For the right pylon : 485AL, 486AR
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Forward Lower Fairing
(Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 54-56-00-991-001)
(1)
Remove the screws (2) and the washers (1).
(2)
Disengage the centering pin and remove the Forward lower fairing (3):
(a) For the left pylon: 473AR and 473AL
(b)
For the right pylon: 483AR and 483AL. Subtask 54-56-00-020-051
B. Removal of the Aft Lower Fairing
(Ref. Fig. 402/TASK 54-56-00-991-002)
(1)
Remove the screws (11), the washers (12) and the screw supports (13).
(2)
Disengage the centering pin and remove the aft lower fairing (21):
(a) for the left pylon: 473CL
(b)
For the right pylon: 483CL. Subtask 54-56-00-020-052
C. Removal of the Center Lower Fairing
(Ref. Fig. 403/TASK 54-56-00-991-003)
(1)
Remove the nuts (31) and the bolts (32).
