A. Safety Precautions
(1)
On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2)
Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3)
On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a)
Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b)
Put a warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

C. Get Access
(1) Put an access platform in position.
(2) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors: R (Ref. TASK 54-51-21-000-001)

For the left pylon: 415AL, 415BL.
-
For the right pylon: 425AR, 425BR.
(3) Remove the panels:
-
For the left pylon: 413AL, 471AL, 471BL, 475AL.
-
For the right pylon: 423AL, 482AR, 482BR, 486AR.
4. Procedure

Subtask 54-50-00-210-051
A. Inspection of the Pylon Drains and the CAF4 Sealant in the Cantilever Zone "A" (Ref. Fig. 601/TASK 54-50-00-991-008, 602/TASK 54-50-00-991-018)
R (1) Inspection of the pylon drains
(a) Examine the drain inlets.
(b) Make sure that the drain inlets are not blocked. Use a flashlight and a mirror, if necessary.
(c) Examine the lines to make sure that there are no cracks, marks, corrosion, or other damage.
(d) Make sure that the lines are correctly attached.
R (2) Inspection of the CAF4 sealant
(a) Take a flashlight and a mirror.
(b) Do a detailed visual inspection of the bottom surface of the cantilever zone "A".
R R (c) Make sure that there is no contamination by kerozene or hydraulic fluid of the CAF4 sealant.
1_ If the volume of the sealant is increased and the sealant is brittle, there is contamination by kerozene.
2_ If the volume of the sealant is not changed and its color is yellow, there is contamination by hydraulic fluid.
(d) If you find contamination, repair the CAF4 sealant (Ref. TASK 54-52-00-300-001).
