3 For the seal (5), install the clip (6) and the clip (4).

(2)
Put the new rivets through the retainer and the clip.
(3)
Cut the rivets to the correct length.
(4)
Make sure that the rivets are flush with the surface of the retainer.
(5)
Drill a 3.6 mm (0.1417 in.) dia. hole on the retainer for the seal pin.
(6)
Deburr the hole of the retainer with emery cloth.

C. Preparation for Installation

(1)
Degrease the surface of the retainers that touches the seals with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-003).
(2)
For the new seals:
(a)
Remove the talcum powder from the surface of the seals with hot water and washing powder.
(b)
Flush with clean water and let it dry.
(3)
Make the surface of the retainer rough with emery cloth, grade 120 to
240.
4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Aft Movable-Fairing Seals
(Ref. Fig. 402/TASK 54-55-41-991-002)
NOTE : Be careful that you do not cause damage to the surface of the
____
retainer.
(1)
Apply on the contact surfaces of the seal and the retainer :
(a)
BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-018) for the seals with P/N D54530240220, P/N D54530240221 and P/N D54530240222.
(b)
BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-004) for the seals with P/N D54530240224, P/N D54530240225 and P/N D54530240222.
(2)
If necessary, bend the clip lightly to engage the end of the seal under the clip.
(3) Install the seal on the retainer. Subtask 54-55-41-220-050
B. Inspection.
(1)
Make sure that the clip holds the seal tightly.
(2)
Make sure that the seal is in the correct position on the retainer.
(3)
Make sure that the seal pins are perpendicular to the face of the retainer.

R R (2) Set the flap/slat control lever to position 1 (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
