Push the faceplate lightly against the window frame until high spots on the window frame touch the faceplate.

 (e)
From the fairing compound you prepared above, apply a sample bead to a piece of scrap metal. 1) Allow the sample bead to cure in the same atmospheric

conditions as those of the faceplate.
NOTE:  To make the compound cure faster, let warm air flow
____ around the area. Do not let the air temperature be more than 120°F (46°C) around the compound and the metal surfaces.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT TIGHTEN THE BOLTS TOO MUCH. BOLTS THAT ARE TOO TIGHT CAN CAUSE THE FACEPLATE OR THE WINDOW FRAME TO WARP. THIS CAN CAUSE YOU TOO CONTOUR THE FRAME AND THE SKIN AGAIN.
 (2)  Install each third or fourth bolt and tighten them enough to hold the faceplate in its position.
NOTE:  The compound must come out from each point around the faying surface you repair.

 (3)  Remove the unwanted compound from the bolt holes and from around the frame.

 WINDOW NO. 1 - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
___________________________________
 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is for the removal of the window No. 1. The second task is for the installation of the window No. 1.
 B.  The window No. 1 (windshield) is pressure sealed on installation with a gasket like, molded-in-position rubber seal. The beaded silicone rubber seal surface touches the window frame. This makes sure there is a good pressure and moisture tight seal around the window (Fig. 401). The pressure seal is part of the window assembly and is bonded to the edge of the windshield glass.
 C.  There is fairing compound applied to the window frame. This makes sure there is a good, flat surface for the window to touch. The thickness of the compound is different in different locations. At high spots on the window frame there is no compound.
 D.  Also shown in Fig. 401 are some items which are not components of the pressure seal. The items that are not part of the pressure seal are these:
