 CAUTION:_______DO NOT TIGHTEN THE BOLTS TOO MUCH. BOLTS THAT ARE TOO TIGHT CAN CAUSE THE FACEPLATE OR THE WINDOW FRAME TO WARP. THIS CAN CAUSE YOU TO MAKE THE FRAME AND THE SKIN TO THE SAME CONTOUR AGAIN.
 (2)  Install each third or fourth bolt and tighten them sufficiently to hold the faceplate in its position.
 NOTE: The compound must extrude from each point around the mating

 surface you repair.

Remove the faceplate after the time shown under "Release from mold" in the Table 801.


 NOTE: If applicable equipment to examine for hardness is not
____ available, it can be sufficient to check that sample compound is not tacky, or hard enough not to adhere to a finger when it is touched. This check is important. If flight is permitted with a window installed on fairing compound of which large areas are wet, cabin pressure can blow leaks around the window edge.

 (5)  S 868-020-B00Cut the unwanted compound from the window frame.
 (6)  S 398-021-B00Fill all the empty areas that are more than 0.01 inch diameter with more compound.
 (7)  S 398-022-B00Permit the compound to become hard.

 WINDOW NO. 3 - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  The number 3 window is installed with a beaded silicone rubber pressure seal molded to the window mounting surface. There is a bead molded on the rubber seal that gives a pressure seal around the window.
 B.  You install the aerodynamic smoother in the space between the window frame and the edge of the window and the pressure seal. The aerodynamic smoother makes a continuous aerodynamic surface and prevents the collection of water. A nylon cord or nylon thread is installed below the smoother to make its removal easier.
