 DOOR-MOUNTED WINDOWS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  The windows for the entry and galley service doors have three panes. The outer and middle panes mount on a frame and are resistant to the loads of the cabin pressurization. The inner pane mounts in the door lining and is not a structural pane.

 2.  Remove the Door-Mounted Windows (Fig. 401)_______________________________

 (1)  
Remove the door lining and insulation if it is necessary to get access to the window (AMM 52-11-31/401, 52-13-21/401, and 52-41-31/401).

 (2)  
Remove the three bolts that hold the window assembly in the correct position.

Remove the window assembly.

 (4)  
Lift the edge of the outer seal to remove the outer pane.

 (5)  
Do the steps that follow to remove the middle pane:

 (a)  
Remove the three backup clips that hold the middle pane in the correct position.

 (b)  
Lift the outer seal and remove the middle pane.

 

 (6)
Apply a cover to the surfaces of the window panes for protection.

Procedure
 S 014-009-B00
 (1)  
Remove the cover from the surfaces of the outer pane and middle pane.

 (2)  
Clean the inner surface of the outer pane and the outer surface of the middle pane with warm water and castile soap.

 NOTE: Use a soft, clean cloth to put the soap solution on the
____ pane surface, but rub the surface with the hand only. You can find dirt and remove it before the surface scratches.

Dry the window surface with a clean, moist chamois.

 (4)  
Clean the area in the opening between the outer and middle panes (Ref 12-40-00/201).

 (5)  
Install the pane or panes in the outer seal.

 (a)  Make sure the manufacturing code and date are in the 11:00 o'clock position on the middle pane and the 1:00 o'clock position on the outer pane.
 NOTE: This will insure correct orientation of the window

 panes.
