 3)  V-shaped chips
 (b) Examine the outer glass pane for these conditions:
 1)  Cracks, chips, delamination which decrease the visual capacity.
NOTE: No. 5 window replacement due to outer pane damage
____ should be based upon window visibility requirements and can be delayed to the nearest maintenance interval.
 (c)  Examine the No. 5 window for delaminations. 1) A delamination of the outer pane which extends more than
1.0 inch (25.4 mm) deep from the window pane edge to the pane center.
 2)  A delamination of the outer pane which has an effect on the visual condition of the window.
NOTE: A delamination is the separation of a glass pane
____ from the adjacent inner layer. A delamination can have an effect on the window heat system.
A delamination does not change the structural strength of the windshield. Thus, use the delamination limits as an aid for window replacement. The delamination limits can be extended if the visual capacity is satisfactory.
 (d) Examine the middle vinyl layer for cracks of any kind.
NOTE: Cracks in the urethane layer, urethane crackling,
____ is not considered a structural concern and does not require removal of window unless visibility is compromised. Urethane crackling is not the same as vinyl interlayer cracks.
 (e)  Examine the window for an arcing, chips, delaminations, or an intermittent operation which cause the No. 5 window heat system to not operate.
NOTE: Refer to limitation section, Boeing Flight Manual for
____ control cabin window heat requirements.

CONTROL CABIN SLIDING WINDOWS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_________________________________________________________
 1.  Window No. 2 (Pilots' Sliding Windows)______________________________________
 A.  The pilots' No. 2 windows are mounted on tracks so that they may be rolled back to permit ventilation and communication during ground handling operations (Fig. 2). The laminated windowpane, inner and outer glass separated by a vinyl core, has the conductive film between the outer pane and the core where it is most effective for anti-icing (Fig. 1). On some No. 2 windows, an additional integral edge heater is added to the upper aft area of windshield. On some Sierracin No. 2 windows a break in the conductive coating is allowed in the upper portion of the window. This break may appear as a straight or curved line when looking through the window. Automatic temperature control is provided and the windows are protected against overheating when they are moved to the open position, (Ref Chapter 30, Control Cabin Window Anti-Icing System).
