(1) Remove small clamshell surface chips, scratches, or other surface damage.
NOTE: If the surface damage is small, start with a low grit
____ abrasive to decrease the time necessary to polish the window. Do not try to repair only a local part of the surface because this this will cause optical distortion.

(2) Remove small surface scratches and other damage with the applicable abrasive paper or cloth.
NOTE: Usually abrasive materials greater than 100 grit are not
____ necessary for gouges or deep scratches and severe crazing.

(3) Use sufficient water to keep the window surface cool and to flush
away the grit and the acrylic material removed.

(4) Change abrasive paper frequently and flush well with water until all
surface damage is removed and the surface looks uniform.
NOTE:____ When you use a sander that vibrates (approximately 8000 cmp),
cover all of the surface in the horizontal direction and then
all of the surface in the vertical direction.

(5) Continue treatment for approximately one more minute to make sure all damage is removed.
NOTE: One to two minutes of 100 grit treatment will remove
____ approximately 0.005 inches of the acrylic from the window.

NOTE: Use 100 - 600 grit paper and micromesh cloths of 1600 - 8000.

(a)
The minimum thickness of the wax on the middle window must be
