PASSENGER CABIN WINDOWS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of a passenger cabin window
(2)
The installation of a passenger cabin window.
B. When it is necessary to install a window plate (plug), do the passenger cabin window removal. To install the window plate (plug), refer to 56-21-11/401.

C. Procedure

(1)
Remove the sidewall lining (Ref 25-21-01/001)

(2)
Put a plastic sheet on the window to prevent scratches.

(3)
Remove the window assembly from the window frame (Fig. 401).
(a)
Remove the screws and the clips.
(b)
Pull the window from the frame.
(c)
Look for damage on the window seal.
(d)
Remove the seal if it has damage.

Procedure

(1) Put the window assembly together.
(a)
Clean the surfaces of the seal and the window frame with the aliphatic naphtha.
(b)
Apply the antistatic agent to the windowpanes
(Ref 12-16-03/301).
(c)
Assemble the windowpanes: 1) Make sure the part number on the outer windowpane is at the top of the pane. 2) Make sure the breather on the middle windowpane is at the
bottom of the windowpane. 3) Assemble the two windowpanes with the seal and spacer.

(2) Apply a mixture of castile soap and water to the edge of the seal.
NOTE: If the soap comes in contact with the window, you should wipe
____ the soap from the window immediately. the combination of extended soap contact and extended sun exposure can cause the window to craze.
