2) Dry off the surface, while still wet, with a clean dry cloth. 3) Continue to clean and dry the surface until there is no dirt that you can see.
WARNING:_______THE ALIPHATIC NAPHTHA IS FLAMMABLE. YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE IT. IF IT BURNS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(c) Rub the mating surface of the faceplate with a clean cloth and aliphatic naphtha.
NOTE: Do not use too much aliphatic naphtha.

(d)
Dry off the surface, while the cleaner is wet, with a cloth that is clean and dry.
(e)
To make the removal easy, install the tape on the surfaces that touch the faceplate.
NOTE: You can use Teflon tape, Teflon that was baked on,
____ Teflon cured at room temperature, or a brush layer of Ivory soap applied with a soft bristle brush.

CAUTION: DO NOT PERMIT AIR TO BE CAUGHT IN THE COMPOUND WHEN YOU MIX IT.

(2) Prepare the fairing compound.
(a) You can buy fairing compounds in two part kits that are already measured (Refer to Table I for qualities of the different materials).

E. Repair the Fairing Compound on the Window Frame.
NOTE: You must do steps 1 through 3 during the application time of the

compound - Refer to Table 1.

(1) Apply the fairing compound to the window:
(a) Apply the fairing compound with a spatula or an extrusion gun.
NOTE: You must apply the compound to the areas that are not
____ smooth, the clearances and the voids of the window frame.
Be careful not to permit air to be caught in the compound. You must not permit air bubbles in the compound.
(b)
Make the compound smooth and to the necessary contour.
(c)
Move the faceplate to its position in the window frame immediately after you apply the fairing compound.
(d)
Push the faceplate lightly against the window frame until high spots on the window frame touch the faceplate.
(e)
From the fairing compound you prepared above, apply a sample bead to a piece of scrap metal. 1) Permit the sample bead to cure in the same atmospheric
conditions as those of the faceplate.
NOTE: To make the compound cure faster, let warm air flow
____ around the area. Do not let the air temperature be more than 120°F (46°C) around the compound and the metal surfaces.
