Remove the glare shield (lightshield) brackets or clips, when it is necessary.
(a)
Support the lightshield.
(b)
Remove the four screws from each of the two lightshield brackets.
(c)
Lift the aft edge of the light shield.
(d)
Disconnect the antifogging ducts from the nozzles.
(e)
Remove the lightshield from the cockpit.

(9) Remove the sunshade support rod above the window drain tube clamps at the window post on the airplane centerline.

removal of the window.

Move the window heat switches on the P5-9 overhead panel to the OFF position.

Disconnect the power leads at the bus bar terminals on the window.

Remove the wiper arm (AMM 30-42-11/401).

(14) Pull the nylon cord from the window to remove the aerodynamic smoother.
NOTE:____Pull the cord parallel to the window frame. This will help stop the cord from braking before it is fully removed.
D. Remove the Window No. 1 (Fig. 401).

(1) Remove the window fasteners, the wire clamps, the washers, the nuts, the seals and the O-rings.
NOTE: Make a note of all the parts and their locations to make the
____ installation easier. Refer to the IPC for new parts and their location.
There is a row of bolts that attach a retaining angle to the frame at the aft edge of the window. To get access to these bolts, open an adjacent sliding window (detail B).

(2) Open an adjacent sliding window and remove the retaining angle bolts from the doubler, the retaining angle and the window frame post.
NOTE: Keep the retaining angle bolts and the retaining angle with

the doubler for installation.
The retaining angle cannot be removed until the windshield is out of the window frame.

(3) Apply hand pressure to the outer side of the window to break the pressure seal.
NOTE: This procedure requires two persons, one on the inside and one on the outside of the airplane.
Always apply pressure to the largest area possible. You can tap the window with a rubber mallet and nonmetallic block if it is particularly difficult to remove. Do not permit the window to fall free when you break the pressure seal. Remove the spacers and the silicone rubber molded-in-position seal with the window assembly.

(4) Remove the window.
