1) The maximum depth of a crazing around the routed edge is
0.012 inch.
NOTE: The crazing can be continuous around the radius of

the pane.
2) The maximum depth of a crazing in an area with delaminations is 0.005 inch.

CAUTION:_______REPLACE THE MIDDLE PANE IF IT HAS A DELAMINATION. THE FAILSAFE PROPERTY OF THE PANE IS GONE.
(5) Examine the window for delaminations (in-plane cracks).
(a) A delamination of the outer pane is permitted at the edge if it is in these limits (Fig. 602).

(b)
The maximum distance from the edge of the pane is 0.20 inch.
(c)
The maximum length at the edge of the window is 0.50 inch.
(d)
The minimum distance between delaminations is 1.00 inches.
(e)
A maximum of 2 delaminations are permitted in the outer pane.
(f)
The maximum depth at the routed edge is 0.012 inch.
NOTE: A delamination at the routed edge can be continuous.

(g) A delamination in the routed edge can have a depth of 0.025 inch for a maximum length of 0.25 inch. The crazing in the area must have a depth of less than 0.005 inch.

(6) Replace the outer pane if the delaminations and chips are larger than these limits:
NOTE: Delaminations in the outer pane, other than at the edge, are

usually with chips.
(a)
The maximum permitted chip depth is 0.025 inch.
(b)
The maximum dimension of a delamination is 0.25 inch in diameter.
(c)
The minimum distance between delaminations is two times the maximum damage diameter.

(7) Examine the window panes for scratches.
(a) Replace the pane if scratches are larger than these limits (Ref 56-31-00/401):
NOTE: Some scratches can be polished or buffed out

(Ref 56-31-00/801).
It is not necessary to polish small scratches less than
0.002 inch depth (not easily felt with a fingernail).
