 (b)  Make sure the notches in the retainer and the seal line up.
 (6)  S 434-014-B00Install the three backup clips which hold the middle pane in the postion in the window assembly.
 (7)  S 434-015-B00Put the window assembly in the door and install the three bolts.
 (8)  S 144-016-B00Rub the surfaces of the window assembly with a clean, moist chamois.
 (9)  S 144-017-B00Clean the door lining (Ref 12-40-00/201).

 (10) Install the door lining and insulation (Refs 52-11-31/401, 52-13-21/401, and 52-41-31/401).

 1.  Door Mounted Window Inspection______________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  
During the window inspection procedure, if you find damage or deterioration of a component which is more than the permitted limits, replace the component (Ref 56-31-00/401).

 (2)  
The inner pane is not structurally important. A deterioration in the visual quality of the inner pane is the only cause for its replacement.

 (3)  
Different types of window damage are specified below:


 (a)  Crazing: A crazing is a number of very small cracks perpendicular to the surface of the plastic. Because of the very small width of the cracks, a crazing is not easy to see when you look directly at the surface. You can see a crazing by the reflection of the smooth surfaces of the cracks at different angles to the light. 1) The routed edge of the window pane is the usual location
 for a crazing to occur. The routed edge usually has more contamination from solvents and other materials while it is cleaned or painted. The contamination can get into the clearance between the window pane and the frame and can soak into the seal. Also, the routed radius causes a stress raiser of near the maximum shear transfer.
 2)  A crazing is usually caused by an incorrect installation. You can also cause a crazing if you accidentally apply materials which are not applicable for acrylic windows.
 3)  A crazing in the radius of the routed edge (Fig. 602) of an outer pane is more dangerous than that in the surface. As the crazing moves around the radius to the outer surface of the pane the crazing becomes less dangerous. This is because the stress level decreases. If there is a crazing at the intersection of the outer contour with the routed edge, there is not very much stress.
 (b)  
Crack: A crack has width which you can see when you look directly at the surface. A crack can become larger in any direction. The angle that the crack becomes larger, depends on the direction of the force. A crack in the stretched acrylic can have chevron or clamshell growth lines. A crack will become larger from a stressed area such as a scratch or a crazing (Fig. 601).

 (c)  
Scratch: A scratch is the removal or movement of material from the surface of the window along a line. The depth and width of the scratch are usually small. 1) The outer pane seal will help prevent scratches in the
