(5) Hold the cover in its position with the masking tape.
E. Remove the Downlock Viewer for the Main Landing Gear (Fig. 201).

Remove the bolts and washers from the retainer ring.

Remove the viewer window with the rubber seal from the retainer ring.

CAUTION: IF YOU INSTALL THE WINDOW, MAKE SURE YOU APPLY A PROTECTIVE
_______ COVER TO THE TOP AND LOWER SURFACES OF THE WINDOW. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE. IF YOU INSTALL A NEW SEAL, DO NOT PUT A COVER ON THE AREA WHICH WILL TOUCH THE RUBBER SEAL AROUND THE EDGE OF THE GLASS WINDOW.
(3) Remove the rubber seal from the edge of the window only if you will install a new seal.
NOTE: It is only necessary to do the above steps if you will
____ install a replacement window or the window seal.

To prevent damage, apply the protective covers to the surfaces you can get to on the two mirrors.

Hold the covers in the position with the masking tape.

Remove the screws and the washers which attach the bottom plate to the ring on the lower end of the viewer tube.
(7)
Remove the bottom plate with the mirror brackets and mirrors.

NOTE: Do not remove the mirrors and brackets from the bottom plate.

(8) If you will install the new mirrors, the mirror retainers, or the sponge rubber backing, remove the screws and the washers from the mirror brackets.

C. Prepare for Installation of the Downlock Viewer for the Main Landing Gear.
NOTE: Do these steps if you install a replacement window or window seal.

(1)
If you install a window seal, clean the surfaces of the new rubber seal and the viewer window that touch each other:
(a)
Apply the methyl ethyl ketone to a clean oil free cheesecloth.
(b)
Clean the surfaces with the cheesecloth.
(2)
Rub off the solvent before it dries with the cheesecloth.
(3)
Apply the clean solvent again if it is necessary.
(4)
Mix the BMS 5-95 adhesive compound fully before you use it.

NOTE: Do not use the adhesive that is thick or hard.

(5) Apply two thin, equal brush layers of the adhesive to the mating surfaces on the window and seal.
