 (1)  Examine the outer glass pane for these conditions:
 NOTE:  You can find a 0.08 inch diameter 'tong mark' at the higher
____ and lower inboard corners of the window. Tong marks are permitted if they are less than 0.5 inch (maximum) from the edge of the outer glass pane. Tong marks on the window occur during the fabrication of the window.
 (a)  
Cracks, chips, and delamination which decrease the visual capacity.

 (b)  
Cracks, chips, delamination or an intermittent operation which cause the No. 2 window heat system to not operate.

 (c)  Arcing, electrical discontinuity or cracks rendering main window heating system inoperative.
 NOTE: Refer to the Boeing 737 MEL for control cabin window
____ heat dispatch requirments. Outer pane is not a structural member. No. 2 window replacement due to outer pane damage should be based upon window heat and visibility requirements and can be delayed to the nearest maintenance interval. Window heat leads should be disconnected and secured if replacement is delayed.

 (2)  Examine the inner glass pane for these conditions:
 (a)  
Cracks

 (b)  
Scratches with a depth more than 0.015 inch

 (c)  
Concoidal chips, in one of the two surfaces, with a depth more than 0.015 inch

 (d)  
V-shaped chips

 (3)  Examine the middle vinyl pane for the cracks.
 NOTE:____It is permissible for No. 2 windows to have a crack in the forward upper corner extending up to 0.50 inches in length into the "daylight opening" (Fig. 602).

 (4)  Examine the middle vinyl pane for crackling.
 NOTE: Crackling is many cracks located one after the other in only
____ the urethane layer. These cracks occur at the window edge adjacent to the frame. It is also possible that when you look through the window it will have a slight yellow color in the area of the crackling. If crackling is contained in only the urethane interlayer, it is not necessary to replace the window. The urethane interlayers are not structural.
