 (4)  S 214-017-B00Do a visual check of the window post and the sill for cracks and corrosion.
 (5)  S 764-018-B00Do a check of the window for the correct resistance (AMM 30-41-21/501). (a) Resistance data for triplex windows: Code 11: 38.8 - 42.6 Ohms Code 12: 35.1 - 38.8 Ohms Code 13: 31.4 - 35.1 Ohms
 (6)  S 974-089-B00Examine the corner of the windshield near the bus bar terminal for the window resistance code and record_______________.
 NOTE:____ The window resistance code is etched in the window and filled in red. This code may be covered when the window is installed. It is necessary to know this code when connecting the window heat wiring.
 (7)  S 974-094-B00If the window you are installing is a PPG, note the serial number. The first two digits indicate the year of manufacture, the next three indicate the day of that year. Windows manufactured prior to day 59 of the year 1992 (serial number 92059H or less) require a dielectric test before installing the window. Windows with serial numbers 92060H or higher do not require the dielectric test. (a) To do the test, using the Hypot 3500D or equivalent, insert the High Voltage probe into the fastener hole adjacent to the heat terminal , and ensure that the lead wire contacts the heat terminal threads. Using 2500 volts RMS, 60 Hz, hold this voltage for 10 to 15 seconds. Leakage of 5 milliamperes or more requires replacement of the window.
 (8)  S 954-019-B00If the protective tape is not installed, install it on the two window surfaces.
 NOTE:____ If the protective tape is cut or torn, check the windshield for damage and apply new protective tape. You must align the tape with the edges of the glass panes.

 WARNING:_______BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE THE ALIPHATIC NAPHTHA. ALIPHATIC NAPHTHA IS FLAMMABLE AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (9)  Clean these surfaces with the aliphatic naphtha:
 NOTE: Use a clean cheesecloth to apply the aliphatic naphtha and a
____ clean cheesecloth to remove it. Do not permit the aliphatic naphtha to dry on the surfaces. Clean the surfaces until there is no remaining film. Be careful to not cause damage, or change the shape of the mating surfaces.
 (a)  
The mating surfaces of the pressure seal.

The window frame.

 (c)  
The window frame post.

 (10) Install the retaining angle and the doubler loosely with one or two of the screws.

Put the window in the window frame and the window frame post.

Make sure that the gap between the outside edge of the window and the fuselage outer skin is 0.03 to 0.16 inch.


 NOTE: This is critical for a good pressure and moisture seal.

 (a)  Install the aluminum spacers (2) in the bolt holes of the window assembly.
 NOTE: Keep the spacers in the bolt holes with friction or some
____ other method. They must stay in the bolt holes until the retaining bolts and attach nuts are installed. Do not bond the spacers. The spacers must be free to move on the bolts and in the bolt holes in the window.

 CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL MAGNETIC OR HIGH PERMEABILITY MATERIALS IN A
_______ 20-INCH RADIUS FROM THE CENTER OF THE MAGNETIC COMPASS.
 (3)  Install the retaining angle (12) and doubler (10) loosely in position with one or two retaining angle bolts (11).
 NOTE:____These bolts must be the same as those removed. This will make sure the bolt ends do not come out to where it is possible they can touch the edge of the window glass (see C-C Fig. 401).
