the stobe light system. The anti-collision/beacon light system is operated if the "BEACON ON-OFF" control switch (2LV) located on the overhead panel 25VU is in the "ON" position. This causes the power supply units (3LV) and (4LV) to energize and supply the upper and lower anti-collisions lights/ beacon lights (6LV) and (7LV) with power. The strobe light system is operated if the "STROBE ON-AUTO-OFF" control switch (11LV) located on the overhead panel 25VU is in the "ON/AUTO" position. This causes the power supply units (14LV), (15LV) and (18LV) to energize and supply the two strobe lights (15LV) and (16LV) on each wing tip and the strobe light (19LV) on the tailcone with power. If a malfunction should occur at the high-intensity strobe lights (white) or their power supply units, this does not have a affect the function of the fuselage anti-collision light (red).

B. Strobe Lights The two forward facing strobe lights and the rearward facing strobe light flash at the same time at a rate of 60 +/- 10 flashes per minute. Additionally a second flash tube in the forward facing strobe lights flashes at a rate of 60 +/- 10 flashes per minute. This produces 120 +/-10 flashes per minute in the forward direction and 60 +/- 10 flashes per minute in the rearward direction.

Power Supply
____________ The 115VAC 101XP and 202XP are three phase busbars which supply power through the circuit breakers 1LV and 5LV to the power units 3LV and 4LV. The power units, which control the flash rate, supply the power to each anti-collision/beacon light. The 115VAC three phase busbar 202XP supplies power through the circuit breaker 10LV to the power units 14LV,15LV and 18LV. The power units, which control the flash rate, supply power to each strobe light. The landing gear computer supplies 28VDC to the coil of the relay 13LV when the landing gear struts are compressed.

A. Anti-Collision/Beacon and Strobe Light The anti-collision/beacon and the rearward facing strobe light consists of a flash tube mounted on a reflection. The tube is enclosed in a faraday cage, and covered by a red glass for the anti-collision/beacon and a white lens for the strobe light. The forward facing strobe light consists of two tubes enclosed in a metal case with a faraday cage in the white lens.
(1)
A transformer is mounted in the base of the light. The housing of the anti-collision/beacon transformer is provided with cooling fins.
(2)
A start electrode is used to start the flash tube.
(3)
The seperate power unit supplies the anode/cathode with a 400 to 500VDC. Also it supplies a start pulse for the anti-collision/beacon and the strobe lights.
B. Power Unit (Ref. Fig. 004) The power unit supplies a high voltage frequency to start and operate the anti-collision/beacon and the strobe lights. In the forward facing strobe light there are two circuits the same.
(1)
The power unit consists of an E.M.I. filter. It is a symmetrical LC-LC filter which reduces the anount of interference to the supply leads to an acceptable level.
