 6. Standby Altimeter/Airspeed Indicator Removal
____________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  The standby altimeter/airspeed indicator (N85) is installed on the captain's instrument panel (P1).
 B. Procedure
 S 864-041
 (1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  
P18 Load Control Center
 1) B9, STBY ALTM/ASI VIBR


 (b)  
P42 5-Volt Lighting Main Instrument Panel 1) 26V AC STANDBY PWR


 S 024-042
 (2)  Remove the standby altimeter/airspeed indicator.
 (a)  Loosen the two adjustment screws adjacent to the indicator (Fig. 401).
 CAUTION: CAREFULLY PULL THE INDICATOR FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.
_______ TOO MUCH FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE AND THE HOSES ON THE REAR OF THE INDICATOR.
 (b)  Pull the indicator from the instrument panel.
 CAUTION: DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PITOT-STATIC SYSTEM HOSES WHEN THE
_______ SYSTEM IS NOT AT AMBIENT PRESSURE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIR DATA COMPUTER.
 (c)  
Disconnect the pitot-static system hoses from the indicator.

 (d)  
Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the indicator.

 (e)  
Put dust caps on the electrical connections.

 (f)  
Remove the quick-disconnect fittings if the indicator will be replaced.

 7. Standby Altimeter/Airspeed Indicator Installation
_________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
When you only disconnect and connect a quick-disconnect, no leak check is required. A visual examination of the quick-disconnect for a complete seal is necessary . You must do a leak test when you cannot make sure that the quick-disconnect has a complete seal.

 (2)  
If you replace or install a quick-disconnect fitting, you must do a leak check.

 (1)  Make sure that these circuit breakers are open with the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached:
 (a)  
P18 Load Control Center
 1) B9, STBY ALTM/ASI VIBR


 (b)  
P42 5-Volt Lighting Main Instrument Panel 1) 26V AC STANDBY PWR


 S 424-045
 (2)  Install the standby altimeter/airspeed indicator.
 (a)  Install the quick-disconnect fittings on the replacement indicator, if necessary.
 CAUTION: DO NOT CONNECT THE PITOT-STATIC SYSTEM HOSES WHEN THE
_______ SYSTEM IS NOT AT AMBIENT PRESSURE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIR DATA COMPUTER.
 (b)  
Connect the pitot-static system hoses to the indicator.

 (c)  
Make sure the pitot-static system hose connections are locked in the sealed position.

 (d)  
Remove the dust caps from the electrical connections.

 (e)  Connect the electrical connector at the rear of the indicator.
 CAUTION: CAREFULLY PUT THE INDICATOR INTO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.

 (f)  
Put the indicator into the instrument panel.

 (g)  
Tighten the two adjustment screws adjacent to the indicator (Fig. 401).
