 E.  If the range of the data transmitted by the weather radar transceiver differs from the range selected on the EFIS control panel, then the weather radar data will be removed from the EHSI display and a typical WXR RANGE DISAGREE message will appear on the EHSI. In addition, if the range of the data received from FMC also differs from the range selected on the EFIS control panel, then the FMC dynamic data will also be removed and a typical MAP/WXR RANGE DISAGREE message will appear on the EHSI.
 F.  The weather radar antenna scans 180 degrees every 4 seconds. The data received by the weather radar is displayed on the EHSIs. The information received by the first sweep of the antenna is displayed on the captain's EHSI and the subsequent sweeps of the antenna are displayed on the first officer's EHSI, and the weather radar indicator (if installed). This pattern is repeated as new information is received by the weather radar system.
 G.  The weather radar data is transmitted on ARINC 453 high speed digital data buses to the EFIS symbol generators.
 13. EFIS - IRS Interface (Fig. 8)____________________
 A.  The Inertial Reference System (IRS) provides various navigation data to the EFIS. The IRS data that are displayed by the EFIS are: heading, pitch, roll, and compass information.
 B.  When the airplane is in the latitude range between 60 degrees south and 73 degrees north, the heading provided by the IRS is magnetic heading (MAG HDG). However, in the latitudes below 60 degrees south and above 73 degrees north, the heading provided by the IRS will be true heading (TRUE HDG).
 C.  The IRS also provides some additional data to the EFIS, which are used only in event of the FMC failure. These inputs are: ground speed, wind speed, wind direction, drift angle, and track data.
 D.  The EFIS symbol generator receives the IRS data on ARINC 429 high speed digital data buses. Two separate data buses, one from each IRU, are inputs to each EFIS symbol generator. The IRS transfer switch is used to select one of the buses, thus selecting the IRU which provides data to a symbol generator.
 E.  The positions available on the IRS transfer switch are: BOTH ON L, NORMAL, and BOTH ON R. When BOTH ON L position is selected, both symbol generators receive data from the IRU-L. When NORMAL position is selected, the left symbol generator receives data from IRU-L and the right symbol generator receives data from IRU-R. When BOTH ON R position is selected, both symbol generators receive data from the IRU-R.
 14. EFIS - VHF NAV/DME Interface (Fig. 9)____________________________
 A.  The VOR/ILS and DME systems transmit data to the digital to analog adapters (DAAs).
 (1)  Data from VOR/ILS system No. 1 and DME No. 1 are sent to the DAA-1. Similarly, data from VOR/ILS system No. 2 and DME No. 2 are sent to the DAA-2. The data are processed within the DAAs and then sent to the EFIS symbol generators on ARINC 429 digital data buses.
 B.  When the VOR/ILS mode is selected on the EFIS control panel, the data processed by the symbol generators are displayed on the display units. If an ILS frequency is tuned on the VHF NAV control panel, the ILS data will be displayed. Similarly, if a VOR frequency is tuned on the VHF NAV control panel, the VOR data will be displayed.
