PITOT-STATIC PROBE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is the removal of the pitot-static probe. The second task is the installation of the pitot-static probe. The installation task includes a test of the pitot-static probe heater and a leak test of the system.

WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE PROBE HEAT IS NOT ON. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P18 Load Control Center
1) C1, CAPT UPPER L
2) C2, CAPT LWR R
3) C3, F/O UPPER R
4) C4, F/O LWR L

CAUTION: DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE TO REMOVE THE PITOT-STATIC PROBE.
_______ THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PITOT-STATIC PROBE.
(2) Remove the pitot-static probe as follows:
(a)
Remove the screws that hold the probe to the airplane.
(b)
Pull the probe away from the airplane skin until you see the electrical connector and the pitot-static lines.
(c)
Disconnect the electrical connector from the probe.
(d)
Disconnect the pitot-static lines from the probe.
(e)
Put dust caps on the pitot-static lines and the electrical connector.
(f)
Remove and discard the gasket.
(g)
Remove and keep the shim(s).

(1) Make sure that these circuit breakers are open with the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached:
(a) P18 Load Control Center
1) C1, CAPT UPPER L
2) C2, CAPT LWR R
3) C3, F/O UPPER R
4) C4, F/O LWR L

(2) Clean and prepare the surface of the airplane around the installation hole.

CAUTION:_______REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE COVER FROM THE PITOT-STATIC PROBE. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PROBE.
