 A.  The EHSI is capable of displaying data from various navigational systems and weather radar.
 B.  Several types of displays are possible on the EHSI, depending on the position selected by the mode switch on the EFIS control panel. These positions are:
 (1)
FULL VOR/ILS

 (2)
EXP VOR/ILS

 (3)
PLAN

 (4)
MAP

 (5)
CTR MAP

 (6)
FULL NAV

 (7)
EXP NAV

 C.  FULL VOR/ILS (Fig. 4)
 (1)
When the mode switch is in full VOR/ILS position, the EHSI will display a 360 degree compass rose, with the airplane symbol in the center. In this mode, the weather radar data cannot be displayed on the EHSI.

 (2)
When a VOR frequency is selected on the VHF NAV control panel, the EHSI will display the VOR data. Similarly, when an ILS frequency is selected on the VHF NAV control panel, the EHSI will display the ILS data.

 (3)
In the full VOR/ILS modes, the position of the range switch, and the map mode display switches will have no affect on the operation of the system.

 (4)
The following additional data are also displayed in the full VOR/ILS modes:

 (a)
Heading, wind speed and wind direction from the IRS

 (b)
Selected VOR or ILS station and frequency from the VOR/ILS system

 (c)
DME distance from the DME system

 (d)
ADF bearing from the ADF system

 (e)
Selected heading from the DFCS MCP

 (f)
Selected course from the FCC

 (g)
Course deviation from VOR/ILS system

 D.  EXP VOR/ILS (Fig. 4)
 (1)
When the mode switch is in expanded VOR/ILS position, the EHSI will display a 70 degree compass arc, with the airplane symbol at the bottom. In this mode the weather radar data can be displayed on the EHSI.

 (2)
When a VOR frequency is selected on the VHF NAV control panel, the EHSI will display the VOR data. Similarly, when an ILS frequency is selected on the VHF NAV control panel, the EHSI will display the ILS data.

 (3)
In the expanded VOR/ILS mode, the position of the range switch determines the range of the weather radar data displayed on the EHSI. The map mode display switches will have no affect on the operation of the system.

 (4)
The following additional data are also displayed in the expanded VOR/ILS modes:

 (a)
Heading, wind speed and wind direction from the IRS

 (b)
Selected VOR or ILS station and frequency from the VOR/ILS system

 (c)
DME distance from the DME system

 (d)
ADF bearing from the ADF system

 (e)
Selected heading from the DFCS MCP

 (f)
Selected course from the FCC

 (g)
Course deviation from the VOR/ILS system

 (h)
Weather radar mode, gain, and antenna tilt from the weather radar system

 E. MAP (Fig. 4)
 (1)
When the mode switch is in the MAP position, the EHSI will display a 70 degree compass arc with the airplane symbol at the bottom. In this mode the weather radar data can be displayed on the EHSI.

 (2)
The MAP mode is used during flight to monitor the airplane's position along the selected FMCS flight path. In this mode, the operator can select additional data for display on the CRT by pushing one or more of the map mode display switches.

 (3)
The additional data include: Nav Aid, Airport, Route Data, ETA and altitude information for all active waypoints, and information on the waypoints which are not part of the active flight plan, from the FMC, ADF data from the ADF system, and VOR data from the VOR/ILS system.

 (4)
The entire MAP mode display is dynamic, so it rotates and translates as the airplane moves. As the airplane moves, the waypoint (WPT) and NAVAID symbols remain upright, but airport (ARPT), holding pattern, and procedural turn symbols are rotated to maintain proper orientation.
