C. The EFIS receives various data from the Flight Management Computer System (FMCS). The data are transmitted on an ARINC 429 digital data bus. The FMCS data can be displayed on the EADI and EHSI.
D. The FMCS data displayed on the EADI is groundspeed.
E. The FMCS data that are displayed on the EHSI are divided into two categories:
(1)
Data that are displayed in all EHSI display modes. Wind speed and wind direction are the major data in this category.
(2)
Data that are displayed only in the following EHSI display modes:
(a)
NAV
(b)
MAP
(c)
CTR MAP
(d)
PLAN The data in this category includes route and flight plan information, NAV Aids, nonflight plan waypoints, airports, and other navigation information.
F. If the range of the data received from FMC differs from the range selected on the EFIS control panel, then the FMC dynamic data will be removed from the EHSI display and a typical MAP RANGE DISAGREE message will appear on the EHSI. In addition, if the range transmitted by the weather radar transceiver differs from the range selected on the EFIS control panel, the weather radar data will also be removed and a typical MAP/WXR RANGE DISAGREE message will appear on the EHSI.
12. EFIS - Weather Radar Interface (Fig. 7)

A. The weather radar data can be displayed on the EHSIs, provided that one of the following modes has been selected on the EFIS control panel:
(1)
Expanded VOR mode
(2)
Expanded ILS mode
(3)
MAP mode
(4)
CTR MAP mode
(5)
Expanded NAV mode
B. To enable the display of weather radar on the EHSIs, in addition to selecting an appropriate mode on the EFIS control panel, the operator must also press (ON) the weather radar ON/OFF switch on the EFIS control panel. If a separate weather radar indicator is installed, the weather radar system must be energized prior to switching on, the weather radar ON/OFF switch on the EFIS control panel.
C. The RANGE switch on the EFIS control panel permits selection of the range for the weather radar displays on the EHSIs.
D. Separate EFIS control panels for the captain and the first officer, allows each operator to independently display the weather radar data on the onside EHSI.
