 B.  The EFI transfer switch controls two transfer relays: EFIS transfer relay No. 1 and EFIS transfer relay No. 2. The EFIS transfer relay No. 1, in turn controls the output drive select relay within the left symbol generator. Similarly, the EFIS transfer relay No. 2 controls the output drive select relay within the right symbol generator.
 C.  The output drive select relays route the outputs of the EFIS symbol generators to the left or right display units. The output of a symbol generator to the opposite display units are routed through the cross-tie bus between two symbol generators.
 D.  When the EFI transfer switch is in NORMAL position, the left symbol generator provides data for display on the left display units. Similarly, the right symbol generator provides data for display on the right display units. When the EFI transfer switch is in BOTH ON 1 position, the left symbol generator provides data for display on the left and right display units. When the EFI transfer switch is in BOTH On 2 position, the right symbol generator provides data for display on the left and right display units.

 23. Power Distribution and Instrument Lighting (Fig. 18)__________________________________________
 A.  Each of the eight EFIS components has its dedicated power circuit breaker. In addition, there is an INSTR TRANS circuit breaker dedicated to the switching function, for a total of nine circuit breakers.
 B.  EFIS Control Panel
 (1)  
The power required is 115 volts, 400 Hz, single-phase for the main power supply, and 5v ac for panel lighting.

 (2)  
The EADI manual brightness potentiometer provides for manual input control of the EADI's display illumination.

 (3)  
THE EHSI manual brightness potentiometer controls the overall brightness of the EHSI display. The EHSI raster/stroke balance potentiometer sets the brightness contrast between the stroke and raster portions of the EHSI display.

 (4)  
When an annunciator light test is performed, the ground signal to the EFIS Control Panel turns on all of the control panel annunciator lights. This is in addition to the self-test patterns on the EADIs and EHSIs.


 C.  EFIS Symbol Generator
 (1)  Power requirements for the EFIS Symbol Generator are 115v ac, 400 Hz, single-phase for the dc power supply and 28v dc for the output drive select relays. One of these relays is energized by the EFI Switch when actuated to the BOTH ON 1 or BOTH ON 2 position.
 D.  EADI and EHSI
 (1)  
Power for the display units is 115v ac, 400 Hz, single-phase. The remote light sensors use -5v dc and +24v dc from the EHSI.

 (2)  
Brightness control circuits for the EHSIs are the same as EADIs, except for the EHSIs additional raster/stroke balance control. As shown for the left EHSI, the control circuit uses combined signals from: 1) the left EFIS remote light sensor, facing forward on the glareshield; 2) the local light sensor on the face of the EHSI; 3) the local light sensor on the EADI; and, 4) the manual and raster/stoke balance BRT controls on the EFIS control panel.
