 3.  EFIS Control Panel (Fig. 1)__________________
 A. The EFIS control panels provide control of the EADIs and the EHSIs.
 (1)  
EADI Controls

 (a)  
BRT control - controls brightness level of EADI display.

 (b)  
DH REF display - this LCD displays the selected decision height.

 (c)  
Decision height set control - this 24-detent, continuous-turn control sets the decision height. The range for decision height is -20 to +999 feet. Decision height starts at 200 as a baseline when power is applied, and corrected by turning the control. Two speeds of response are achieved by software.

 (d)  
RST switch - manually resets the decision height circuit after the airplane has passed through the selected decision height.

 

 (2)  
EHSI Controls

 (a)  
Range switch - selects the range for the navigation and weather radar data display on the EHSI.

 (b)  
An inoperative TFC switch, covered by a blank placard, may be installed on the range switch of some airplanes. This switch can be used to show TCAS indications on the EFIS displays for airplanes with operational TCAS.

 (c)  
Mode switch - selects the mode of data displayed on the EHSI. Mode selection data is routed to the EFIS symbol generator via an ARINC 429 data bus.

 (d)  
BRT control - controls brightness level of the EHSI display. The outer control is for the overall brightness, and the inner control is for the relative raster brightness.

 (e)  
WXR switch - allows for display of weather radar data on the EHSI.

 (f)  
MAP mode display switches - allow for display of additional symbols on the EHSI.

 


 4.  Remote Light Sensors (Fig. 1)____________________
 A.  Two light sensors, mounted on the glareshield, are used in the automatic intensity control circuits of the EADI and EHSI displays.
 B.  Each sensor is approximately two inches wide, one inch long and one inch high and has a field of view of 45 degrees left and right and 15 degrees up and down.
 C.  The sensors face forward so that their photo diodes measure ambient light coming through the windshield. The output is an analog signal proportional to external ambient light. Each unit is used in the control circuit for the onside EADI-EHSI pair.
 D.  Operating power to each remote light sensor is +24v dc and -5v dc, provided by its associated EHSI.

 5.  EFIS Program Pin Options (Fig. 2A)
________________________
 A.  The EFIS symbol generators contain selectable program pins. These pins can be grounded or left open to set the applicable EFIS options. Each option is assigned a binary number, 0 (open) or 1 (grounded), that represents its state. These options are arranged to form a specified sequence of binary numbers. A binary to hexadecimal conversion of this sequence makes a hex code. The hex code is shown on the EADI during self-test.
