 (3)  Install the Pitot-Static Probe as follows:
 (a)  
Remove the dust caps from the electrical connector and the pitot-static lines.

 (b)  
Install any cap plugs from the pitot-static probe that you removed.

 (c)  
Install the shim(s) on the probe.


 NOTE: The new pitot-static probe may require a different
____ number of shims than the old pitot-static probe.

 (d)  Install a gasket.
 CAUTION:_______ USE TWO WRENCHES TO APPLY PRESSURE TO EACH SIDE OF THE HOSE CONNECTIONS. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PROBE.
 (e) (f) (g)  Connect the pitot-static lines to the probe.Connect the electrical connector to the probe.Put the pitot-static lines and electrical connector into the installation hole.
 (h) (i) (j) (k)  Install the screws that hold the probe to the airplane.Make sure the bottom of the probe aligns smoothly with the airplane skin.Make sure that the airplane skin and the probe base are aligned in + 0.0000 to - 0.020 inch at the aft edge.Make sure that the airplane skin and the probe base are aligned in + 0.000 and - 0.040 inch at the top, bottom, and forward edges of the outer skin.
 NOTE:____ If the airplane skin and the probe base are not aligned properly, install or remove shims as necessary.
 ú ú ú  (l)  Measure the resistance between the strut of the pitot-staticprobe and the airplane skin with a multimeter.1) Make sure the resistance is less than 0.010 ohms.

 (4)  Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: (a) P18 Load Control Center 1) C1, CAPT UPPER L 2) C2, CAPT LWR R 3) C3, F/O UPPER R 4) C4, F/O LWR L

 (5)  Do a test of the heater circuit of the pitot-static probe (AMM 30-31-00/501).

 (6)  Seal around the edge of the installation hole and the airplane skin with the sealant.
 NOTE:____ It is not neccessary to apply the sealant immediately if the cure time will cause a flight delay. But, you must apply the sealant as soon as possible to keep moisture out of the area between the probe and the airplane skin.

 (7)  Do a leak test of the pitot-static system (AMM 34-11-00/501 or AMM 34-11-01/501).

 PITOT-STATIC PROBE - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General_______
 A.  Fly Back Limits
 (1)  
Replace the pitot-static probe for one or more of these conditions:

 (a)  
The flight crew finds a cross-panel airspeed or altitude difference

 (b)  
The pitot-static probe is out of tolerance

 (c)  
There is structural damage to the pitot-static probe.

 

 (2)  
When you see deterioration of the pitot-static probe condition you can dispatch the airplane from a base without maintenance facilities. Dispatch is allowed until one of these conditions occurs:

 (a)  
24 hours elapse

 (b)  
The airplane gets to a maintenance base where the pitot-static probe can be replaced.

 


 B.  This subject has one task. The task is to visually examine the probe, static ports, pitot opening, and drain hole for damage.
