 2. EFIS Symbol Generator Software Installation with a Portable Data Loader

 A. General
 (1)  
This procedure tells you how to install software in the EFIS SG.

 (a)  The SG must contain this piece of software: 1) Operational Program Software (OPS)

 (2)  
A Portable Data Loader (PDL) is necessary for this procedure.

 (3)  
A Tray Adapter is necessary for this procedure.

 (4)  
The airplane must be on the ground with the engines off before you can install the software.

 (1)  
Do this task: Supply Electrical Power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 (2)  
Use a PDL and Tray Adapter to install software in the SG.

 NOTE: You must know the correct software part number for the
____ SG. For the SG to be an approved installation, you must install the software with the correct part number. You can do a check of the SG software part number with the EFIS Symbol Generator Test (AMM 34-22-41/401).

 (3)  Do these steps to prepare for the software installation:
 (a)  
Set the EFI Transfer Switch on the pilots' overhead panel to NORMAL.

 (b)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags: 1) On the circuit breaker panel, P18-2 a) C01110, EFIS SYMBOL GENERATOR - LEFT

 2)  On the circuit breaker panel, P6-1 a) C01114, EFIS SYMBOL GENERATOR - RIGHT

 (c)  
Remove the EFIS SYMBOL GENERATOR - LEFT. Do this task: EFIS Symbol Generator Removal (AMM 34-22-41/401).

 (d)  
Install the Tray Adapter in the EFIS SYMBOL GENERATOR - LEFT tray. Make sure that the Tray Adapter is fully seated in the tray.

 (e)  
Install the EFIS SYMBOL GENERATOR - LEFT in the Tray Adapter. Make sure that the SG is fully seated in the Tray Adapter.

 (f)  
Set the power switch on the PDL to OFF.

 (g)  
Connect the interface cable from the PDL to the Tray Adapter.
