Visually examine the pitot static probe for material in the static ports, pitot opening, and pitot drain hole.

Replace the pitot-static probe if one of the conditions is not satisfactory (AMM 34-11-11/401).
E. Aerodynamic Contour Condition Check

(1) Visually examine the static ports as follows (Fig. 601):
(a)
Make sure that the static port edges are perpendicular to the contoured-surface.
(b)
Make sure that the static port edges are not rounded more than
0.003 inches.
(c)
Make sure that the static port edges are not above the contoured-surface more than 0.003 inches.

(2) Visually examine the pitot-static probe for nicks, scratches, or other surface defects as follows:
(a)
Make sure that the depth of the defect is less than 0.015 inches within a radius of 0.5 inches of the static ports.
(b)
Make sure that the depth of the defect is less than 0.025 inches on the remaining head section.
(c)
Make sure that the depth of the defect is less than 0.125 inches on the strut section.

(3) Replace the pitot-static probe if one of the conditions is not permitted (AMM 34-11-11/401).
F. Pitot Tip Condition Check

(1)
Examine the pitot tip of the probe with the inspection kit.

Replace the pitot-static probe if the inspection shows an out of tolerance condition (AMM 34-11-11/401).
