(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

P6 Circuit Breaker Panel
1) F/O EHSI
2) F/O EADI
3) EFIS SYM GEN R
(b)
P18 Circuit Breaker Panel
1) CAPT EHSI
2) CAPT EADI
3) EFIS SYM GEN L
4) INST TRANS

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE EFIS
_______ SYMBOL GENERATOR. IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EFIS SYMBOL GENERATOR.
(2)
Remove the applicable EFIS symbol generator (AMM 20-10-07/201).
(3)
Install dust caps on the electrical connectors.

3. EFIS Symbol Generator Installation

A. General
(1) AIRPLANES WITH -420 OR -421 EFIS SYMBOL GENERATORS; The correct software part number must be installed in the new EFIS symbol generator. Do a check of the software part number with the EFIS Symbol Generator Test. The part number will show in the PLAN or MAP mode test pattern. If you cannot complete the EFIS Symbol Generator Test because no software is installed, then install the software (AMM 34-22-41/201) or replace the EFIS symbol generator with one that has the correct software.

Remove the dust caps from the electrical connectors.

Examine the unit and rack connectors for unwanted materials and loose or damaged pins.

Install the EFIS symbol generator (AMM 20-10-07/201).
E. Prepare For the EFIS Symbol Generator Test

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Align the IRU's (AMM 34-28-01/201).

Make sure the BAT switch on the pilots' forward overhead panel is in the ON position.

Make sure the STANDBY POWER switch on the pilots' forward overhead panel is in the AUTO position.
