(1) Visually examine the static ports as follows (Fig. 601):
(a)
Make sure that the static port edges are perpendicular to the contoured-surface.
(b)
Make sure that the static ports in the probe are not dirty.
(c)
Make sure that the static port edges are not damaged.

(2) Visually examine the pitot-static probe for nicks, scratches, or other surface defects as follows:
(a)
Make sure that the depth of the defect is less than 0.015 inches within a radius of 0.5 inches of the static ports.
(b)
Make sure that the depth of the defect is less than 0.025 inches on the remaining head section.
(c)
Make sure that the depth of the defect is less than 0.125 inches on the strut section.

(3) Replace the pitot-static probe if one of the conditions is not permitted (AMM 34-11-11/401).
F. Pitot Tip Condition Check

(1) Visually examine the pitot tip for lip flatness as follows (Fig. 602):
(a) Make sure that the lip flatness is less than 0.015 inches.
NOTE: For a new probe, the lip flatness must be 0.004 |0.002

(2) S 226-010Visually examine the pitot tip for an outward flare of the lip (Fig. 603). (a) Make sure that any pitot tip flare is 0.015 inch or less.
(3) S 226-011Visually examine the pitot tip for an inward dent as follows (Fig. 604): (a) Make sure that the dent is less than 0.030 inches. (b) Make sure that the dent is less than 20 percent of the lip circumference.
(4) S 226-012Visually examine the pitot tip for nicks as follows (Fig. 605): (a) Make sure the depth of a nick is less than 0.035 inches when the pitot tip has only one nick. (b) Make sure that the depth of each nick is less than 0.025 inches when the pitot tip has two nicks.
