If the filter element does not show signs of metal particles, do the steps that follow:
(a)
If the oil-filter Differential-Pressure Indicator (DPI) is not extended:
-install the IDG filter element (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-000-041).
(b)
if the DPI is extended:
-do the alternative procedure (Ref. TSM 24-OBSV PB 101).

- If the filter element shows bright metal deposits that are chunks or pieces which are the result of a breakage, (not non magnetic flakes or slivers from normal wear), or
-if there are large quantities of bright metal deposits on the filter element, in the filter cavity or in the oil drained from the IDG,
(a)
Remove the IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and send it back to the overhaul facility.
(b)
Install a new IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-400-040).
(5) If the filter element or/and the O-rings is (are) damaged or show signs of bypass, remove the tubings, the cooler and the IDG.
(a) Remove the tubings for cleaning (Ref. TASK 24-21-49-000-003) and (Ref. TASK 24-21-49-000-004).
(b) Remove the cooler (Ref. TASK 73-11-60-000-002) and send it back to the overhaul facility.
(c) Remove the IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and send it back to the overhaul facility.
(d) Install a new IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-400-040).
(e) Install a new cooler (Ref. TASK 73-11-60-400-002).
(f) Install the tubings that you cleaned (Ref. TASK 24-21-49-400-003) and (Ref. TASK 24-21-49-400-004).

R B. Inspection of the Scavenge and Charge Filter Elements
R NOTE : This procedure is the same for the two filters.____
R R R (1) If you smell a fuel odour from the filter element or filter cover, do the servicing of the IDG after oil chemical contamination (Ref. TASK 24-21-00-612-043).
R R R (2) If you think that the condition of the oil in the filter element or on the filter cover is not correct, do a sampling of the IDG oil for analysis (Ref. TASK 12-32-24-281-001).
R R (3) If the filter element does not show signs of metal particles, do the steps that follow:
R R (a) If the Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) is not extended: - install the filter element (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-000-041).
R R (b) if the DPI is extended: - do the alternate procedure (Ref. TSM 24-OBSV PB 101).
R (4) - If the filter element shows bright metal deposits that are chunks
R or pieces which are the result of a breakage, (not non magnetic
R flakes or slivers from normal wear), or
R - if there are large quantities of bright metal deposits on the
R filter element, in the filter cavity or in the oil drained from the

R (a) Remove the IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and return it to the
R overhaul facility.
R (b) Install a new IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-400-040) or (Ref. TASK 24-
R 21-51-400-040).
R (5) If the filter element or/and the O-rings is (are) damaged, remove the
R tubings, the cooler and the IDG and return them to the overhaul
R facility.
R (a) Remove the tubings (Ref. TASK 24-21-49-000-003) and (Ref. TASK
R 24-21-49-000-004).
R (b) Remove the cooler (Ref. TASK 73-11-60-000-002).
R (c) Remove the IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and return it to the
R overhaul facility.
R (d) Install a new IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-400-040) or (Ref. TASK 24-
R 21-51-400-040).
R (e) Install a new cooler (Ref. TASK 73-11-60-400-002).
R (f) Install new tubings (Ref. TASK 24-21-49-400-003) and (Ref. TASK
R 24-21-49-400-004).
