R B. Installation of New IDG and Main Oil/Fuel Heat Exchanger
R R (1) Install a new IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-400-040) or (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-400-040).
R R (2) Do not connect the oil-in line (2) to the oil-in port (3) at this time.
R R (3) If the cause of contamination is a leak of the main oil/fuel heat exchanger:
R R (a) Install a new main oil/fuel heat exchanger (Ref. TASK 79-21-20-400-002).

C. Flushing of the External Lines
CAUTION : USE ONLY APPROVED TYPES/BRANDS OF LUBRICANTS. DO NOT MIX_______ TYPES//BRANDS OF LUBRICANTS.
NOTE : Approximately 1.5 USgal (5.7 l) of oil will flow into the____ container.
(1) Put the end of the IDG oil-in line (2) in a container 5.7 l (1.5 USgal).
(2) Remove the dust cap (4) from the pressure fill valve (1).
(3) Connect the pressure fill hose (5) of the TANK - ENGINE OIL FILLING UP (DH13PM) to the pressure fill valve (1).
(4) Use a pump to fill the IDG with filtered OILS (Material No. 03-002) until: - the color of the oil that flows from the IDG oil-in line (2) is the same as the color of the oil that you put into the IDG, - or until you collect 3.8 l (1.0038 USgal) to 5.7 l (1.5057 USgal) of oil from the IDG oil-in line (2).

D. Connection of the IDG Oil-in Line
CAUTION : USE TWO WRENCHES TO HOLD THE FITTINGS WHEN YOU TORQUE THE
_______ OIL-IN AND OIL-OUT LINES. IF NOT YOU CAN TRANSMIT TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE IDG FITTINGS AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IDG BOSSES.
(1) Connect the IDG oil-in line (2) to the oil-in port (3). Use two wrenches, one to hold and the other to TORQUE the IDG oil-in line (2) to between 75 and 83.3 lbf.ft (10.16 and 11.29 m.daN).

E. Fill the IDG with oil or add oil in the after a level check (Ref. TASK 12-13-24-612-041).

Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

Make the thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. TASK 78-30-00-081-041).

Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. TASK 71-13-00-410-040):

_______ HOT OIL CAN BURN YOUR EYES AND SKIN. IF OIL TOUCHES YOUR EYES OR SKIN, GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION : DO NOT OPERATE THE IDG:

IF IT CONTAINS TOO MUCH OIL

IF IT DOES NOT CONTAIN ENOUGH OIL
IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IDG.
CAUTION : USE ONLY NEW CANS OF OIL WHEN YOU FILL THE IDG WITH OIL OR ADD OIL TO
_______ THE IDG. THE CONTAMINATION IN OIL THAT STAYS IN OPEN CANS CAN CAUSE FAST DETERIORATION OF THE OIL AND WILL DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE IDG.
CAUTION : DO NOT USE SOLVENTS THAT CONTAIN CHLORINE TO CLEAN THE EQUIPMENT
_______ (PUMP, HOSES, TANK AND FUNNEL) USED TO FILL THE IDG WITH OIL. CHLORINE CONTAMINATION OF THE OIL CAN CAUSE FAST DETERIORATION OF THE OIL AND WILL DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE IDG.
