A. PositionandWarning(continued)
7. Adjustmentof Main InboardGear Door Ajar Switches
(a) Ensurethemain inboard gear doors are adjusted properly.
(b)With the master switch off, actuate handpump to bring gear doors down.
(c) Disconnectactuatorcylinder rod from doors to they hang freely.
CAUTION: AVOID EXTREME OUTWARDADJUSTMENTCAUSINGTHE SWITCH MOUNTINGTAB TO BEND BACK WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE SWITCHUNIT.
(d) Positionswitch by adjusting retainer nuts so when the door is closed by hand a click is heard approximately1 inch before the door is completely closed.
NOTE: An ohmmeter or continuity tester can be used to indicate switch actuation.
(e)
Install actuator cylinderrodto the door.

(f)
Turn master switchON and with the gear selector in DOWN position,actuatehand pump until door closes.


8. RemovalofGear Warning Switches (referto 32-60-00 Figure401)
The gear warning switchesare located within the control pedestal directly under the power levers. Each switch actuatesthewarninghorn.
(a)Theswitchesare removed from their mounting bracketsas follows:
(1.) Remove top cover plates of pedestal. (Oneis forward of the control levers, the other surroundsthe levers by removing attachment screws.)
(2.) Remove switch from its mounting bracket by removing two screws securing either switch and spacer block. First remove nut from each screw and allow the bracket of the other switch and spacer block to swing full forward by turning the adjustment screw counterclockwise.Pullaft on switch bracket to be removed. Push out attachment screws.
(3.) Disconnect necessaryelectrical leads.
(b) The switch mounting bracket are removed by removing the control lever assembly as follows:
(1.) Disconnect theengine control cables from control levers by removing connecting clevis
pin. (2.) Remove flush head screw at each side of pedestal housing. (3.) Remove frictionknobwith washer from right side of pedestal. (4.) Remove capbolts securing frame. (5.) Pull assembly from pedestal housing. (6.) Remove control keeper tube holding switch brackets in the control frame by removing tube
attachmentscrewsfrom each side of frame.

9. Installation of Gear Warning Switches (refer to 32-60-00 Figure 401)
The switch mounting brackets, as part of the control lever assembly, are installed as follows:
(a)Assemblemountingbrackets (switches and spacer blocks are installed with mounting bracket), tension springs, and spacer washers in the control frame. Secure with the keeper tube. Secure keeper tube in frame.
(b)Install control lever assembly in pedestal housing. Secure with cap bolts and screws.
(c) Install friction knob with washer on the end of the lever shaft at the right side of the pedestal.
(d)Connectengine control cables to their respective levers with clevis pin. Place washer on ends of clevis pins and secure withcotter pins.
The switches are installed on mounting bracketsas follows:
(a)Connect electrical leads to their respective switch terminals. [Refer to PA-42-720 (Advanced Trainer) Wiring Diagram Manual for wire installation.
(b)
Place switch and spacer block in its mounting bracket.Install attachment screws. Swing the bracket of the other switch and spacer block forward to install the attachment screws. Install nuts on the screws; secure.

(c)
Positionpedestalcover plates on pedestal; install screwsandsecure.


(d)Adjustswitches.

10. Adjustmentof Gear WarningSwitches
Thegear warning hornswitchesare installed in the control pedestal, eachcontrolledby a power
lever. Each switch activatesthe warning hornwhen either or both power levers are reduced below
300foot-poundsof engine torque. The following procedureis for the adjustmentof the gear
warning switches:
(a) GroundAdjustment:
(1.) Start and run engines with propeller set for full increase rpm.
(2.) To set power lever switches to actuate at a desired power lever setting, retardpower leversuntilengine torque gaugesread 300 foot-pounds of torque. Mark power lever cover in relation to the power leversfor adjustment of switches.
