14. ControlBox
The controlboxis anelectronicdevicewhichreceivesandcompareselectricalsignalsgenerated by magneticpickups. Whena speeddifferenceexistsbetweengovernors,a varyingvoltage producedby the controlboxchangesthe magneticbiason eachgovernorspeedsettinguntil enginerpm'smatch.
NOTE:Thecontrolbox,whichis not repairable,is encapsulatedin a cushioningmaterialto protectagainstvibration.
(a) Removalof ControlBox
(1.) Gain accessto inboardsideof leftinstrumentpanelsupportweb.
(2.) Unscrewconnectorfrom controlbox.
(3.) Removetwo screwsand liftout.

(b) Installationof ControlBox
(1.) Set controlboxintopositionon bottomclip.
(2.) Attachtwoscrews.
(3.) Screw in connector.

15. MagneticPickup
CAUTION:  DONOTHAMMEROR JARMAGNETICPICKUPS.DOINGSOWILLDECREASE THESTRENGTHOFTHEMAGNET.
The magneticpickupis installedon a bracketwhichis attachedto the brushblockassembly.
(a)
Removalof MagneticPickup

(1.) Removesafetywire.
(2.) Disconnectwiringto magneticpickup.
(3.) Loosenjam nut
(4.) Removemagneticpickupfrombracket.


(b)
Installationof MagneticPickup


(1.) Screwjamnutonto magneticpickup.
(2.) Screwmagneticpickupintonuton bracket. Obtaina gap of 0.050inchbetweenmagnetic

pickupandtarget.
(3.) Tightenjamnutto 160to 190in. lb.
(4.) Connectwiringto magneticpickup.
(5.) Securewithsafetywire.
(6.) Testfor propervoltageoutput(referto Chart3).

A. Description and Operation
Themaintenanceconcept of this chapter is supplemental to the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-61 Engine Maintenance Manual and consists of removal, installation, and adjustments of external components and engine accessories.Repairs beyond this level should be accomplished by an approved Pratt & Whitney of Canada Limited overhaul facility.
In the interest of maintaining efficient engine performance,an engine condition trend monitoring systemhas been set up by Pratt & Whitney. This is not a mandatory procedure, but is highly recommendedby Pratt & Whitney and Piper Aircraft Corporation. Theuse of this procedure will establisha means by which the engine condition can be observed withoutactual tear down of components,until conditions warrant it.
