NOTE: Do not remove morethan 0.020inchbeloworiginalsurfacefor generalblending.
(b) Paintrepairedsurfaceswith twocoatszinc chromateprimerandone coataluminumlacquer.
NOTE: Useonlyonecoatof zinc chromateprimerandusenofinishcoat on matingsurfaces andthepackinggroove.
(c)
Replaceall parts containingvisiblecracks.Replacepartsthataredamagedbeyondrepair.

(d)
Replacepackingandgrommetat each overhaul.


13. RemovalandDisassemblyofNoseWheel(Cleveland)(referto32-40-00Figure403)
(a) Placeairplaneonjacks (referto 7-10-00).
(b)Toremovethenosewheel,removeaxletierodandtie rod axleplugs.Inserta 1-7/16 inch
diametertubeintothefork. Tapout axle fromwheelassembly.
(c)
Flexforkenoughto remove thewheelsspacers.Allowthewheelto clear theforkassembly.

(d)
Thewheelhalvesareseparatedby deflating thetireand removing thesixwheelbolts.Pullthe wheelhalvesfromthetire by removingthewheelhalfoppositethevalvestemfirstfollowedbytheother half.

(e)The wheel bearing assembliesareremovedfromeach wheel half by removing the snap rings securingthe grease seal retainers, the retainers, greaseseals, and bearingcones. The bearingcups must be removed only for replacement and can be removed by tapping out evenly from the inside.
14. Assemblyand Installation of Nose Wheel (Cleveland) (refer to 32-40-00 Figure 403)
(a)
Ensure bearing cup in each wheel is properly installed.

(b)
Install tire and join the two wheel halves.

Insert through bolts with nuts to wheel stem side and torque bolts to specifications

(d)
Inflate tire to 80 psi. If tire is new, proceedto step 5. If tire is used, proceedto step 6.

(e)
Let inflated tire stand for 12 to 24 hours and check for normal 10% pressure loss. Reinflate tire, brush water or soap solutionoverexterior of tire and inspect for leaks.

NOTE: Bubble formationaroundsidewallvents on tire is normal during water or soap solution test.

(f)
Ensure tire pressure after 24 hours indicatesareading of 76 -80 psi. If pressure loss exceeds 4 psi, check tire for damage and repair or replace, as necessary.

(g)
Lubricatebearingconesand install cones, grease seals, and seal retainer rings. Secure with snaprings.

(h)
Flex fork enoughto install wheelandspacer tubes. Referto PA-42-720(AdvancedTrainer) IllustratedPartsCatalog for proper spacers requiredfor 80 psi tire.

(i)  
Insert axle tube, fork caps and tie bolt. Adjust tie bolt not to allow wheel to turn freely, but tight enough to prevent lateral movement ofwheel.


15. Inspectionof Nose Wheel Assembly (Cleveland)
(a)Visually check all parts for cracks, distortion, defects,excessivewear, and corrosion.
(b)
Checktie bolts for looseness or failure.

(c)
Check internal diameterof felt grease seals. Replace the felt grease seal if surface is hard or gritty.

(d)
Check tire for cuts, internal bruises, anddeterioration.

(e)
Check bearing conesand cups for wear and pitting; relubricate.

(f)
Replaceany wheel casting with visible cracks.

B. Brake Assemblies
1. Description and Operation -Brakes
The brakes are hydraulically actuatedby individual mastercylinders mounted on the left and right sets of rudder pedals. The brake reservoir is accessible throughan access door on the upper right portion of the nose section.
For further information on servicing of brakes, refer to front of manual for vendor publications list.
2. Fault Isolation -Brakes
