bottomof the slotsin attachment bracket. (6.) Rotatedrag link assembly by handuntil up lock hook engagesup lock bearing.(7.) With bothup lock rodsfully extended andthe hook restingfullyon the up lock roller, adjust
the rod ends(uplock and blowdown actuatingrod)untilthe attaching bolton the hookcan be freely inserted.Removethe bolt, extendthe rod endsone full turn and lock. Reinstall the bolt and secure.
NOTE:Theactuatingcylinder'sand up lockrod's attaching boltmustremaininthe bottomof the attachmentfittingslotsduringthisadjustment.
(8.) Lubricate asnecessary,slip boot over the up lock rod end locknut andsecureafter the adjustmentof nose gearis complete.
(c)
Returnthe drag links to the DOWN position, attachthelowerdraglink to the landinggearhousing;secureand safety unlesscheckingthelink through its travel.

(d)
Thethroughtravelof the link is checked as follows:


(1.) With the gear in the DOWNpositionand the stop surfacesof the drag links touching, checkthe linkage is 0.063 to 0.156 inches throughcenter.
NOTE:Thelinkagemustnot exceed 0.156inchesthroughcenter.Afabricatedtool can be constructed to check through-center whilethe
travel of the drag link assembly linksare installed onthe airplane. (Referto 32-20-00 Figure501).)

(2.) To use the fabricated tool, be sure the gear is in the down locked position with no hydraulic pressure on the system.
(3.) Remove cotter pins which safety the nuts securing both upper drag links to their attachment plates and the lower link to the gear housing.
(4.) Place the tool tube through the elongated hole in the tool plate. Place the tube over and between the upper link attaching nuts.
(5.) Swing the plate up against the head of the bolt connecting the upper and lower links. The plate sleeve slides over the nut of the bolt connecting the lower link to the gear housing.
(6.) Look through the right hole in the plate to ensure the center of the bolt is 0.063 to 0.156 of an inch below the centerline on the plate.
(7.) Remove tool and reinstall cotter pins.

(e)
Theidleror retractionrod mustbe adjustedto provide a distinct snap-throughactionas the idler linkage passesthroughcenter.

(f)
Adjustthe idlerlink stop bolt on the rightsideof the wheelso the idlerlinkageis0.22 to 0.28 inchesthroughcenter. Tightennutson idler links.

(g)
Connectdownlockspringto the idlerlink.

(h)
Extendactuatorpistonwith hydraulicpressureand adjustrodend untilthe attachingboltcan be freely inserted. Releasepressureand extendrodend one fullturn. Reinstallboltand secure. Tighten the rodend locknutand safety wire.


NOTE:  Rod ends andstrokecontrolare locked with an NAS559lockingkeyand safetywire. Usethe propertechnique.
(i) Reinstallattachingbolt and secure. Placekey locks betweenlocknutsand the keywayin the
rod. Screw locknuton the rodand keepthe key lock centered in the keywaywhiletighteningthe locknuts (32-20-00 Figure401 showsproperinstallationof the locks on the pistonrod end).
NOTE: It couldbe necessaryto partiallyretractthe gearto tighten the locknuts.
()  Retractgearandadjuststrokecontrolstopon the actuator untiltheup lock bearingclearsthe insideoftheuplockhooksurfaceby0.030to0.060ofaninch.Tightenthelocknuton the strokecontrolstop(referto 32-20-00 Figure401).
(k)
Withthegearupandlocked,closeonedoorat a time and adjustdooroperatingrodsuntilbolts canbe freely inserted.Shortenrodsonefullturnoftherod ends. Donotinstallbolts.

(I)  
Extendgearandinstalldooroperatingrodbolts.Adjustdooropenstopboltsto allow thedoor linkageto pass 0.06to0.12 inches throughcenter.


(m)Retractgearslowly(use hand pump)andensureallpartsareoperatingsatisfactorily.
(n) Ifgearfailsto remain retractedafterthecockpithandlereturnsto neutral,it is necessaryto readjusteitheror both of the following,untilthegearlocksup:
(1.) Increasetheactuatorstrokebyturningoutthestrokecontrolstop.
(2.) Relieve doorpinchby lengthening thedooroperatingrods.
CAUTION: CHECKALL ROD ENDSFORADEQUATETHREADENGAGEMENT.
