A. Flight Compartment
1. Removalof Standard Windshield
(a)
Removewindshieldwiper blade and arm from wiper motor. (Refer to 30-40-00)
(b)
Removemagneticcompassfrom windshield channelcover.
(c)
Removecover panel on top of instrument panel.
(d)
Removewindshieldchannelcovering.Removeremaininginside windshield trim.
(e)With an assistant,removemachinescrewsfrom windshield collar moulding.
NOTE: Machine screws securing windshield are installed in a particular order size. Refer to Figure401 for proper placement.
(f)
Remove collar moulding and windshield.
(g)
With windshield removed, clean windshield supporting flange. Remove all traces of old sealant.
2. Installationof Standard Windshield
CAUTION: DO NOT PRESSURIZE CABIN FOR AT LEAST 48 HOURS TO ALLOW SEALANT TO CURE AROUND WINDSHIELD.
(a)
Preparesurface according to instructions in 51-20-00.
NOTE: Mask windshield optical surfaces and fuselage skin around windshield collar area to minimizecleanup.
(b)
Apply 1 inch wide 1/16 inch thick vinyl foam tape (Norton Co., Tape No. V542, Piper No. 924 441) to windshield supportingflange.
(c)
Place windshield in position.
(d)
Applyliberal amount of PRC 1425 (Products Research Comp.) sealant to outer windshield. Apply sealant to outer frame surfaces contacting windshield collar.
(e)
Positionwindshield collar and cleco in place.
(f)
Secure with screws starting at center top comer moving downward. Move outboard at both top and bottom sides. Torque screws to 30 -40 inch-pounds.
(g)
Clean off excess sealant.
(h)
Install inside trim, channel covering, instrumentpanel cover, and magnetic compass.
(i)
Install wiper arm assembly previously removed and secure.

3. Storm Window
Thestorm window on the pilot's side consists of a round, stretched, plexiglass window,installed in a stainless steel(A.I.S.I. Type 321 stainless) framewith a push-button latch.
(a) Removalof Storm Window Assembly
(1.) With storm window open removethe six equally spaced screws which secure the storm window inner ring and outer trim ring to the side window. (2.) Remove storm window from inside cabin.
(b) Installationof Storm Window Assembly
(1.) With PRC1425 sealant appliedto trim ring (shown in Figure 402),position trim ring in
storm window opening. (2.) Position spacer (P/N 51225) around trim ring (shown in Figure 402). (3.) Apply PRC 1425sealantto outer rim of inner ring on stormwindowassembly.Place
window into position in opening. (4.) Align holes in inner ring on storm window with holes in trim ring. Install six retaining screws.
NOTE:
1.
SEALBETWEEN INNER RING AND TRIM RING WITH SEALANTPRC 1425. REMOVEEXCESSOR VISIBLESEALANT.
2.
SEAL BETWEEN WINDOWANDTRIM RING WITH SEALANTPRC1425. REMOVEEXCESSOR VISIBLE SEALANT.
3.
SPLICE IN SEAL MUST BE AT TRAILING EDGEOF WINDOW. CUT SEAL .75 INCHESLENGTHAT SPLICE AND CEMENT ENDSTOGETHERWITH 3M #EC-847CEMENT.
4.
CEMENTSEALTO RETAINER WITH3M #EC-847 CEMENT.
