15. Removal of Parking Brake Valve
(a)
Disconnect parking brake cable from valve actuatingarm.
(b)
Disconnectfluid lines from valve.
(c)
Remove screws attaching valve to its mounting bracket.
(d)
Cap line openings to prevent contamination of system.
16. Disassembly of Parking Brake Valve (refer to 32-40-00 Figure 407)
(a)
Remove two fittings from outside the valve body. A valve spring is held in place by the fittings. Donot loosen these when removing the fittings.
(b)
Fromvalve body, remove the valve spring and valve.
(c)
To remove valve cam, remove the nut, washer, bushing and spring. Pull cam from valve body.

LubricateO-ringswithhydraulicfluid(MIL-H-5606),insertcam into valve body and secure with spring,bushing,washer,andself-lockingnut.

InstallO-ringonvalve,insert valve in the out porthole, installvalve spring, and secure with outletfitting.
16. Installationof Parking BrakeValve
(a)Attachvalvetobulkheadmountingbracketwithscrews.
(b)Connectfluid lines to valve.
(c) Connectcontrolcableto valvelever. Ensure when valve leverfitsin the closed detent, parkingbrakehandleis 0.062 to 0.125 inchofbeingfullyin against thestop.
(d)Bleedbrakesystem(refer to 32-40-00BleedingProcedure).
17. Inspectionof ParkingBrakeValve
(a)
Inspectcamandseat valve bodysurfacesforexcesswear and corrosion.
(b)
Inspectcamassemblyforburrs,scratches,excesswear,looseoperatinglever,etc.
(c)
Check general conditionof valvesand spring.
18. Cleaningof Parking Brake Valve
(a)Cleanvalvepartswitha suitable solvent.
(b)Dry them thoroughly.
19. Repairof ParkingBrakeValve
Repairto valve is limited to smoothing burredor scratched surfacesand replacing O-rings.
20. BleedingProcedure(referto32-40-00Figure601)
If brake systemhas been drained,hashad parts replaced,orhad had anylineconnectionbroken, bleedit as follows:

Placea suitable containerat the reservoirto collect fluidoverflow.
