1. PreparingForInitialStartAndRun
(a)
Placeeightquartsofoil,specifiedin latestPratt&WhitneyCanadaServiceBulletinNo.13001, in engineoiltank.
(b)
Disconnectfuelsupplylineatengineflowdivider.Attachshorthosetodisconnectedfuelline thatpermitsfueltodrainintoasuitablecontainer.
(c)
Setcockpitconditionlevertogroundidle.
(d)
Pullignition(IGNITION)circuitbreakerout.
(e)
Selectfuelpumpon.
CAUTION: DO NOT EXCEEDSTARTERTIME LIMITSOF30 SECONDSON, 1 MINUTE OFF;30 SECONDSON, 1 MINUTEOFF;30 SECONDSON, 1 MINUTEOFF. IF MORETHANTHREESTARTCYCLESARE REQUIRED,ALLOWA 30 MINUTE COOLINGOFFPERIODTO PREVENTOVERHEATINGSTARTER.
(f) Motorenginewithstarteruntilcleanfuelisdrainingfromfuelsupplyline.
(g)Checkthefollowingduringenginemotoringrun:
(1.) IndicatingneedlesonNgandNpgaugesrotatein correctdirection.
(2.) Oilpressure.
(3.) Fuelflowandfuelpressure.
(h)Moveconditionlevertocutoffposition.Checkthatfuelflowstopsinstantly.
(i)
Checkthatengineoillevelisonequartbelowmaximumcoldindication.Serviceasrequired. () Removedrainhoseattachedtofuelsupplyline. Connectsupplylineto flowdivider;safety.
(k)
Checkforfuelandoilleaks.
(I)
Checkthatthefollowinghavebeencalibrated:
(1.) Interturbinetemperaturesystem.
(2.) Torquepressureindicatingsystem.
(3.) NgandNpindicatinginstruments.
NOTE:Referto 77-10-00and77-20-00forcalibrationprocedures.
(m)Pushignition(IGNITION)circuitbreakerin.
(n) Connectpowersupplyplugto igniterbox;safety.

2. First Engine Run
CAUTION: BE SURE AIRPLANE'S WHEELS ARE CHOCKED BEFORE PERFORMING ENGINE RUNS. BRAKES MAY FAIL OR AIRPLANE MAY ROLL DURING HIGH POWER SETTING ENGINE RUNUP.
(a) Takethe following safety precautions before ground testing engines:
(1.) Position airplaneinto wind.
(2.) Set parkingbrake.
(3.) Chock wheels.
(4.) Check that a manned fire extinguisher is readily available outside airplane.
(5.) Clear area around airplane for loose objects.
(6.) Check that engine intakes and exhausts are free of foreign objects.
(7.) Clear danger areas around airplane of personnel.
(8.) Install cowling for other than ground idle engine runs of short duration.
CAUTION: BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO START ENGINE, PERSONNEL SHOULD BE QUALIFIEDBY A PILOT OR OTHER RESPONSIBLE PERSON EXPERIENCED ON ENGINE START AND SHUTDOWN PROCEDURES,AND OTHER SYSTEM FUNCTIONS REQUIRED TO PROPERLY AND SAFELY OPERATE ENGINES. REFER TO PILOTS OPERATING MANUAL FOR REQUIRED INFORMATION.
CAUTION: COMPLY WITH ALL ENGINE OPERATING LIMITATIONSSHOWN ON CHART 1.
(b) Start engine. Idle 3 to 5 minutes. During engine run:
(1.) Cycle propeller.
(2.) Check proper operation of:
(a.) Interturbine temperatureinstruments.
(b.) Torque gauges.
(c.) Engine rpm (Ng) instruments.
(d.) Propeller rpm (Np) instruments.
(e.) Fuel flow and fuel pressure instruments.
(f.) Oil pressure and oil temperature instruments.
(c) Shut down engine. Check:
(1.) Oil lines and connections for leaks. Service as required.
(2.) Fuel lines and connections for leaks. Service as required.
(3.) Engine oil level is one quart below maximum hot (MAX HOT) reference. Service as
required. (4.) Accessories mounted on and off engine for secure mounting and linkages. Service as required.
(d)
Installengine cowling.
(e)
Start engine.
