5. Oil Filter Element Maintenance (Figure 201)
The engine oil filter must be inspected each 100 hours time in service, and must be replaced each 1000 hours time in service.
Between required replacement times, light sediment only may be removed using proper cleaning procedure. All other contamination requires replacement of filter element.
NOTE: Refer to Pratt and Whitney Maintenance Manual, p/n 3034342, Chapter 79 for detailed procedures and techniques for removing, inspecting, cleaning, and installing the engine oil filter.
6. Oil Cooler Exhaust Door
(a) Removal of Oil Cooler Door Transmission (Figure 402)
(1.) Remove bottom cowling and cowling support panel to gain access to transmission
assembly. (2.) Extend oil cooler door to full open position. (3.) Disconnect electrical leads from transmission and motor assembly.
NOTE: Identify leads to facilitate reinstallation.
(4.) Disconnect transmission rod from oil cooler door. Remove sleeve, jam nut, spring, spacer, and seal from transmission rod. (5.) Disconnect transmission from firewall mounting bracket. Remove complete assembly from aircraft.
(b) Installation of Oil Cooler Door Transmission (Figure 402)
(1.) Position transmission assembly in mounting bracket with rod protruding through oil cooler duct. Secure with proper attachment hardware. Allow transmission to rotate on its mounting bracket.
(2.) Connect electrical leads to transmission assembly.
(3.) Place seal, spacer, and spring on transmission rod. Screw jam nut and sleeve onto rod.
(4.) Connect transmission rod to oil cooler door with attachment hardware.
(5.) Adjust oil cooler door.

(c) Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair of Oil Cooler Door Transmission
NOTE: Follow this procedure when conducting 500 hour special inspection for oil cooler door transmission. Also refer to 12-20-00, Chart 6.
(1.) Clean transmission assembly with suitablesolvent.
(2.) Inspect transmission tube for excessive end or side play on transmission screws.
(3.) Check that transmission tube, screw, and rod end are not distorted or bent.
(4.) Check that screw bearing is not loose on transmission screw or within transmission

housing. Determine excess wear by holding transmission and moving screw up and
down.

(5.) Check for excess wear within transmission by turning screw by hand and noting end and side play in transmission drive shaft. End play should not be great enough to cause end pressure on motor drive shaft.
(6.) If any checks show excess wear, corrosion, or damage, replace transmission or its
