A. Nose Gear and Doors (continued)
3. Installationof Nose Gear (refer to 32-20-00 Figure401)
NOTE: When assembling any units of landing gear, lubricate bearings and friction surfaces with proper lubricant (refer to 12-20-00 Chart 3 and Figure 302)..
(a)
Positionright and left upper drag link plates and bolt in place.

(b)
If previously removed, positionright and left gear housing attachmentplates and rivet in place.

(c)
Installsupport tube and secure. Connect uplimit switch and secure electricalwiringto tube.

NOTE:The uplock hook, uplock cable, idler link, and retraction rod can be assembled on support tube as a unit and installedonairplane (or each component can be installed individually),after support tube has been installed.

(d)
The uplock hook with uplock spring are installed as follows:

(1.) Place U end of up lock spring over back of hook with loops toward the back.
(2.) Spread spring and snap loops over bushing extending throughthe hook.
(3.) Hook ears of spring over aft side of hook bracket and push hook forward until bolt holes in

bracketalignwith holes in the hook. (4.) Bolt hook in position and be sure it rotates freely with no side play, then safety.
(e)
Installuplock cable and blowdown actuatingrod by attaching andsecuring sliding end to up lock hook and the other end on gear actuatingcylindersupport bolt. Lubricate sliding end of rod per lubrication chart(refer to 12-20-00 Chart 3).

(f)
The idler linkis installed as follows:

(1.) Align bolt hole in the link with lug holes of support tube and with down limit switch contact boss to the right.
(2.) Insert head of pivot bolt into hole in the side of up limit switch bracket far enough to allow threaded end of the bolt to be inserted into tube lug and link. Tighten nut on bolt, allowing link to turn free with no side play.
(3.) Attach retraction and actuating cylinder rod end to idler link. Do not connect retraction rod to drag link until gear adjustment is completed.
(4.) The downlock spring is attached after gear check and adjustment is completed.
(g)
To install gear housing assembly, positiongear so attachmentpointson housing align with attachmentplates. If needed, install spacer washers between attachments allowingaminimum amountof side play. Tighten pivot bolt nuts to a snug fit allowing gear to swing free; safety wire nuts.

(h)
The drag links are installed as follows:

(1.) Align upper and lower drag link bolts holes, install bolt, uplock bearing, and secure. (2.) Check that linkage through-center
travelis within tolerance. (3.) Attach upper drag links to attachment plates, tighten nuts to a snug fit allowing linksto swingfree, and safetywire the nuts. (4.) Attach lower drag link to landing gear housing and temporarily install bolt. Secure and
safetythe bolt after gear is adjusted.
(5.) Manually retract and extend landing gear severaltimes to check for smooth operation.
(6.) Attach retractionrod to upper right drag link. Adjust rod to obtain approximately
0.06ofan inch clearance between lower locknut and link.
