3. Installationof Main Landing Gear (refer to 32-10-00 Figure 401)
CAUTION:  WHEN ASSEMBLING ANY UNITS, LUBRICATE BEARINGS, BUSHINGS, AND FRICTIONSURFACEWITHPROPER LUBRICANT.
(a) Positionattachmentplatesof landing gear housing andupperdrag links and bolt in place.
(b)Theup lock hookis installed as follows:
(1.) Place U end of the up lock spring over the back of the hook with loops toward the back.
(2.) Spreadthe spring andfit loops over bushing extending throughhook.
(3.) Slide hook inboard throughthe bracket until the bracket holealignswiththe bolt hole in
hook. (4.) Install pivot bolt and tighten so hook rotates freely without side play.
(c)
Attachup lock cable and blowdown uplock rod with sliding endsattachedto the hook and the other end of their fittings.

(d)
To install main gearhousingassembly,positiongear so attachment pointsonthe housing align with attachment plates. If needed, installspacerwashersbetweenattachmentsto allow a minimumamount of end play.Tightennut on each pivot bolt to a snug fit,allowinggear to swing free and safety and install main landinggearbolt retainers (forwardandaft).


(e)The upper and lower side brace link assemblyis installed as follows:
(1.) Reinstallpivot shaft (forward upper side brace link) spar attachment fittingas follows:
(a.) Slide a washerover each bolt.Insert bolts through appropriatemountinghole in the fitting. (b.) With bolts in their fittings,installthe required shimsto correctly space fitting away from the spar for proper positioningof the pivot shaft. (c.) Withshimson the bolts of the fitting, carefullyinsertfittingthrough access holeand bolt the fitting to thespar.
(d.) After the fourboltsare tightened, removeoneboltat a time andreinstallthem so only onethread is engagedin the spar rivnut. Pull on the bolt and check distancebetween bearingsurfaceof bolt headand the pivot shaft fitting(or surface of washer). The allowabletoleranceof the gap is 0.370 inchminimumto 0.385 inch maximum. One additional0.03125(1/32)inch washer can be used under thebolt head to prevent the unthreadedshank from bottoming in the rivnut. If the gap is not big enough, usethe nextsize AN-4-##A bolt (refer to 32-10-00 Figure 401). Reinstalleachbolt and torqueto 70 inch-pounds.
(2.) Slide pivot shaftthroughattachmentplate mounted to the wheelwell and into the attachmentfittingonthe spar. Securepivotshaft at attachment fitting. (3.) Checkthatthe forward upperarm is installedonthe link, install thelink on the pivot shaft and secure itwith washers and nut. (4.) The aft upperdrag link is installed by slidingthe link on aft attachmentplate pivot bolt. Tightennutto allow linkto swing free with no side play;safetythe nut. (5.) Positionlowerlinkbetweenupperdraglinkends,installthe bolt assembly and tighten, allowingthelink to turn free with no side play. (6.) Attachlowerdrag link to landinggearhousing;secureand safety. Movegearin and outof the down lock positionseveraltimestoensure no binding exists.
